Hey all. lol..still working out kinks in my car...I have a 89 240sx. Pardon my frustration.

Took my old Clifford alarm from my recently wrecked car and had it installed in the 240. It works great except when it decides not to!

Coincidence or not, it seems every other day it's been triggered or triggered itself. I get the 4 chirps I hum and haw and growl, I go on. Eventually the siren decides it'd would like to consider being a mute and then altogether does and will not make a sound but will flash 4 chirps to let me know it knows it's got an effin' problem.

The engine kill works, the car will not start but the siren will not come on. I've had it back to the place that installed it twice, they've re-wired once and recharged it, worked fine for a few days and now it's dead again.

I had some troubles with my battery over the past two weeks, are they draining each other? Is there a known problem with the XL500 and 240s, or is this car just cursed!!? I do have a sizzle in my TCM box and will change that ASAP otherwise I just don't get it and don't know what to do.

Sorry for the long post, please help.

edit: sorry, also seen an online site re: Alarm Installation in a 240 and took note of the following with regards to wires. Parking Lights (+) Wire Color (Red/Blue) Location: Back of Dash Dimmer Switch

My dimmer doesn't work, nor do my dash lights, could be a TCM problem but did this stupid installation mess up my car and why is the alarm connected to the dimmer switch?

At my old store we sold Clifford alarms. We would, from time to time, have people with old Clifford alarms come in and have some sort of wierd problem. We would send the "brain" off to Clifford to be reprogrammed and that usually took care of the problem. I would contact a Clifford dealer and start there.

Perfect! Thanks Simmsled. Infact I just spoke to a rep. at the store I purchased it from (years ago) and he told me the exact same thing. Apparently the "brain" can be shorted out if hooked up incorrect. I'll try this, thanks.
