Hopefully someone can help me out . . . please.

I have a 2002 Maxima SE 6 speed manual. Lately, I've been hearing a clicking noise while accelerating. I thought it did this in just one gear, but I hear it in the first 4 gears, at least whenever there is a wall the noise bounces off. I have tried it without the clutch ingauged, with reving the engine, but I do not hear the noise. I recently had the dealership inspect the car. They came back with results of the motor mounts, the rubber spacer, being worn down. I am not sure if this is the cause of the noise, so I thought I would consult the experts . . . you! Please help! Hopefully it is good news and something I can change myself. Please let me know.

Is it a repetitive or rhythmic clicking or just occasional clicks?

As far as motor mounts, 5th gens do have electronic motor mounts that tend to fail from time to time. I don't know that they could cause clicking, though.

Depending on what the clicking sounds like, it could also possibly be CV joints or any number of worn suspension bushings.

Can you give any more details on the noise and when it happens? Does it happen when braking, too? Does steering have any effect on it?

hey i had that before, definatelly see mechanic, but when I spoke to my mechanic he informed me that something was loose (dont remember for sure what, but he said some bolts in engine or trans) but he told me to definatelly from that point to use premium fuel 93 only. So I dont know if you use premium or regular but definatelly start using premium.

Hope this helps.

It's just occasional, no rhythm to the clicks what so ever. Yeah, the dealership said that the pads for the mounts are cracked. Could this be metal on metal making the click?

Did he fix it? I noticed the same noise about 2 years ago, when I got on island. Then I started using 93 premium and it went away. But around 3-4 months ago, it started again, even when using 93. Thank you for the help. I will definitely get it in sometime soon, although hawaii has outragious prices for labor. Do you think the dealership would do a complimentary inspection? I guess I would have to ask . . dugggghhhh!!
