Clicking sound accelerating and above 4000 rpm

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Anyone had this? When I hit the gas pedal all the way I get a clicking sound (sort of like a spinning wheel of fortune sound) which seems to be coming from in front of where my left foot is. Took it to the dealer. They diagnosed as stuff in the AC system, flushed out, bla bla bla. Didn't make sense and didn't help. I'm driving in cold weather and there is quite a bit of muck around.

Jon, I agree...Wonder what the relation is w/ flushing the AC system to do with a sound that happened when you floored the car.... Could it be the AWD / Front CV boot / joint area or even the differential / transfer case that is causing the clicking noise? I've heard some older 4Runners / Explorer (more like Exploder!) / some older SUVs having that 'clicking' sound during acceleration.

My car had similar clicking noise from the engine after I switched to SSO (0w-30). The dealer said it could be related to the g37 where ester oil is recommended. Now the noise is gone after I switched back to 5w-30 synthetic.

* IF YOU CONFIRM A tapping noise coming from the dash area when the engine is running at operating temperature, DETERMINE IF The noise is coming from inside the heater core. ACTION "Back-Flush" the heater core to remove gray silicone debris. See this bulletin for further detail.
