On my 97 Pathfinder, I’m getting snap or click noise intermittently when turning and braking. Really occurs only when parking and is intermittent. Just started hearing the noise around 3 weeks ago.

Doesn’t occur with a specific turning angle as I’ve heard it at a full lock and sometimes a slight turn.

I have not heard it when stationary.

Absolutely all suspension components are new as well as the cv axles and steering rack. That includes strut bearings, rotors, wheel bearings, pads.

While rolling and turning wheels I do not hear the sound until I press the brakes and not every time.

The brake dust shields have been replaced a few years ago so that’s also ruled out as well.

I am suspecting something with the calipers or brake hardware?

Calipers are aftermarket and several years old. But function well and pins are not seized as they were free at the time of pad replacement a few months ago and were re-lubed.

I have pryed on all suspension components and everything is solid. I followed all torque specs when I was doing suspension work.

Have you checked to see that you still have the proper wheel bearing preload tension, sometime after you replaced the hub bearings and pressed in new bearing cups? That occasional clicking and snapping sound could be a loose bearing.

No, I did not check that back. Thanks for pointing that out.

Could also be weak rattle-springs on the pads, if they aren't being replaced along with the pads. They're ordinary spring steel and they do lose tension over time.

Yes I had some suspicions about the brake hardware but I changed it when I changed the pads a few months ago. That being said I’m still not ruling it out.

Upon checking the wheel bearings I had a slight play in them when rocking the rotor. I slacked it, preloaded, and torqued down to spec after. The play is now gone.

I’ll wait and see if that solves the noise problem.
