Hey everyone I just got a 2003 infiniti G35 Sedan and i have some questions about starting the vehicle.

Can you start the car with the key in the ACC and On position or should you just turn it all the way from the off position?

I'm asking this because sometimes when i try to start the car from ACC and ON position it doesn't start i just hear a clicking noise and the dash lights flash rapidly at the same time. However when i turn the key from the OFF positon to Start in one quick turn it starts fine.

Is this normal? I was thinking the battery might need changing cause it has the same battery from when i bought it and it looks old. Or maybe it might be something else.

Any help or tips will be greatly appreciated

You are probably hearing the starter selenoid. If this is the original battery, it is time to replace it. If your battery has vent caps you can take specific gravity readings of each cell with a battery hydrometer tester to see if you have a weak or dead cell. Another test you can try is with the engine not running turn on your headlights. Then try to start the car. If the headlights go completely out & the starter groans, clicks or doesn't start at all you have a weak or dead battery.Don't buy a cheap battery. Interstate or Sears Gold for your vehicle are good choices.

Good luck

Welcome to NICO Prolithix

You can purchase an inexpensive digital voltmeter at Radio Shack. With the engine running if you measure the voltage across the battery, you should read about 14.4 volts if your alternator and belts are all functioning.
