Hi All,

I have a 2010 G37x Automatic with 24,900 miles on it. Recently I started hearing a clicking noise when driving. Usually hear it for the first 4 gears or so while taking off. If I press the gas peddle down and get on the car as it downshifts I can hear the noise again. It sounds like it could be coming from the center dashboard area.

I have a appointment next week but wanted to hear some ideas?

Is it a actual mechanical click or simply a tapping sound that seems to be coming from the center of the dash?

The G has weird acoustics and I've had noises sound like they are coming from one place but actually be from somewhere else. First, make sure the passenger seat belt female buckle, which is against the console, is not rattling. Next, make sure the passenger side seat belt is not tapping the door. Next, see if it's something in the overhead sun glass holder. Additionally, there is a known rub/tap that comes from the plastic cowl piece that runs on the bottom of the windshield (outside plastic piece that the wipers pass through). You can try and clean under it or use something like RainX to make it a bit slick to see if that is the problem.

There is also TSB ITB07-007c (can be found here: http://www.infinitig37.com/Infiniti-G37 ... itins.html) that mentions tapping via the heater core. It does not mention being a issue with the '10 model but who knows.

I have it down at Infiniti now. I had a friend in the car the other day and he believes that it is coming from the Tachometer area. Also noticed that it usually happens around 3k rpm and not much lower then that. I saw the TSB on the heater core. I figure let them tell me what is wrong. After all that is why I have the warranty :-)

I also told them that I had a problem with the bluetooth. Had the car 3 years and never got to use it because no one could hear me on the other end due to garbled and cutting out. They want me to leave my cell phone with them for several days so they can test it. I told them I cannot go several days without the phone.

I get some squeaking of the cluster above the settings buttons. A quick smack gets rid of it. When I still had warranty everytime I dropped it off for them to look at it, among other things, it would stop doing it before they actually got to the car...ugh :)

This problem has been non stop for two weeks straight. My friend says he can still hear it below 3k rpm, but I cannot. It is in the shop right now. Will let you know what the problem is/was. The noise is pretty annoying when driving. .

Problem turned out to be the heater core. They flushed it and it works no problem.

Ah, so it was the TSB fix.

Thanks for the follow up.

Well the clicking noise is back again. Not as loud as before and only does it at even higher RPM's. It doesn't happen every time either. Had people in the car today to listen to it and they heard it. On the way home from work it did it on and off.

Going to be tough one for them to diagnose if it isn't happening all the time.

I brought the car in today for the noise once again. This time they had a Tech come with me. The noise wasn't that loud. He said that is not the heater core (Same noise as last time.) He said he will try the car again when it is cold. WTF. You hear it or you don't hear it. He then tells me that maybe that noise is normal and it is when the car is trying to hold the gear at high rpm. (Then your other cars have a problem that needs to be addressed because they don't do it.) He tells the rep there is no noise, but they will keep it. I'll bring the car in every day if I have to until they fix it.

This car is a lease and my parents want to buy the the car. The car has 25k miles on it. Should not be making any noise. If they keep giving me the run around I'll just move on and give the car back and go to another brand.

Yeah, hold the dealership accountable. I understand if they get a car, drive it, and don't hear it...but when the tech hears it they need to figure it out. Period.

Sounds like the clicking axle problem. Very common.

Yes, there is ITB08-018b concerning axle noise. This is being reported as an in-cabin noise and not the axle issue.

Welcome to NICO! :)

Picked up the car today. They flushed the core again. I drove the car and thought I heard it at 4k RPM but it quickly went away and I haven't heard it since. I'll get to test it more in the morning. I notice it does it more when the car is cold, but I'll hold my judgement until I test it more. Thanks for the info on the Axel

Noise is back yet once again. Same issue at 3k plus RPM getting the noise. They keep doing the flushing of the heater core.

How many times do I need to go through this garbage

Sounds like it's time for them to rip and replace the heater core components. If the dealership pushes back then report it to Infiniti Consumer Affairs that you have had this fixed multiple times and it keeps coming back.

I really hope so. My parents want to buy this car from me when it comes off lease due to my low mileage and they just love the car. I bet they are unwilling to do it. I tried to get them to do the BT mic TSB since mine sounds terrible. They ignored it and just did the Multi AV reprogram. Which didn't work so its going back for that as well.

I just want to make sure it is in perfect shape for them.

Contact Infiniti consumer Affairs about the issues you have and see if that won't press the dealership (I'd let them try one more time....and check lemon laws in your state). If there are other dealerships in towns you travel you can try one of those.

Dropping the car off on Tuesday. I'll let them know I'm unhappy with having to bring the car back three weeks in a row.

I will, but not sure what to do. It didn't make any noise yesterday and I'm supposed to bring it in today. If it is not making any noise when I bring it in they will just say it is fixed. I may cancel and if it makes noise bring it straight down so they can hear it while it is making the noise.

Will see what today brings

So I bring my car down AGAIN today (third time.) I told the guy this is a lease and I want to buy it, but you guys are making it hard. The service rep says that no one has ever heard the noise. I said so you preform a TSB on something that you never heard? I told him I am not nuts and the 6 people I put in my car to listen to the noise are not crazy either. They took the car again to test it out. The service rep said he started the car and didn't hear the noise himself.

You need to take a drive in the car with the Service Manager when it's making the noise, that way the main guy over the service center is hearing it. I would also try and take video of it making the noise as well so you can show it when it's not making the noise.

The problem is since they have done the first flush it was happening 100% of the time, but now it is periodically happening. I am still shocked they can tell me that they NEVER heard the noise, but yet knew what to fix and even wrote it up as fixed.

I will offer to setup some audio recording in the car to see if it picks it up.

I just got the car back tonight. They did several more high pressure flushes on the core. They said if I bring it in again they will just replace the heater core. I didn't have a chance to test it out today. Although this dealer just ticked me off beyond belief. Not the service department end which seems to be good.

Parents want to buy the car out. The local dealer told me a few weeks back no problem 50 dollar fee. Called today to start the process of doing it and they said the only way I can do it is if they take the extended warranty for 2800 dollars. I called Infiniti financial who wanted to do a conference call with her to set her straight. I told him I rather not deal with that dealer anymore. Called up the next dealer who said no problem to bring the car down

You are lucky to be in an area with multiple dealerships. Some do stupid things at times.
