Clicking noise when going from Park to Reverse/Drive

When the car has sat a long time, for instance overnight, then starting and putting the car in gear it makes a click noise that differently grabs my attention. It seems when the car is warm, making multiple stops for erands, it doesn't do it. I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this clicking noise and if so what their take is on it. The car runs fine, just that annoying sound. The car has 1600 miles on it.

On some older cars the drive shaft spline would be one of the first places to look.
