I've got a clicking noise coming from the rear of the car, only when I hit bumps. It's a tinny noise, almost like a metal tag on the spring type of thing, but after crawling under it........nothing. The only noise I can make the wheels make is the brake pads. Think that might be it?? Anyone else with a similar problem or experience?

Yeah, I think I know what noise you're talking about. I'm 99% positive I have the same noise. I've always wondered what it was, but it only happens once in awhile...depends on the bump I guess.

you describe the sound as a click? or is it more of a clunk?

how many miles do you have on your car?

is it on just one side or both?

Its just a click..........the car has around 23,500 miles...........can't tell if its both or just one side. Only happens when I hit a bump and can only hear it when I am under 30 mph with the windows down. I have tried riding the brake and applying the gas but the motor/intake/exhaust are too loud. I'm pretty sure its the brake pads moving in the caliper, might need to get new shims for the cage (sounds like a good reason to upgrade to a better braking system). Just wanted to check and see if it was a common problem.

Your rear axles may need to be torqued down. I'm not as sure about newer models, but this was a common issue with the earlier G35's.

There's a TSB for this issue or one similar. I had the problem on my car. The best way to repeat it was to put it in 1st or 2nd gear while moving, then tap the throttle hard, then release.

The dealer said that the axles needed to be lubed. That fixed the problem for me.

Crazy. Yeah it drives me nuts. Sounds like a combination of a ziptie/click noise. I changed my brakes thinking maybe it was the caliper or something, but didn't go away.

Dealership might cover it, but the likelihood is that you'll have to pay since you're at your warranty end (I'm assuming).

Sentientbydesign, how much was that for your car to get fixed and all lubed up? Mine does that and the dealership already pointed that out. I asked if there is and damage being caused and they said "NO" so I did not get it fixed. I will when I start my full-time job and I have the cash flow.

I noticed last night that the same noise I hear in the rear also came from the front.

Mine was covered under warranty. Riverside Infiniti has been super good to me. They fixed that problem and they are replacing my engine under warranty too.

The service department is pretty good and Tony in parts is awesome!!!

I would think the service would be in the neighborhood of $50-$100. Not really sure.
