Hey everyone, I am new here. I have a 2007 Nissan Versa SL with CVT transmission. I had this problem before but they "corrected" it but now it is back. I seems whenever I am driving and I make the slightest turn of the steering wheel, even just changing lanes, there is a clicking noise coming somewhere from the steering column area. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Thanks a lot!

Can you be a little more descriptive? Speed? Severity? What was their fix the last time?

Sorry. It is actually at any speed, from when I pull out of the driveway at 5 mph to when I get on the highway going 60+. They replaced the steering column last time I believe.

It sounds like your steering shaft need to be lubricated, doing this takes care of clicking noises from the steering system.

Chevy Impala's had this problem and with lubrication of the shaft noises went away.

My steering column also makes a sound while turning the wheel.

Not a clicking sound, but like the shaft is in need of grease. I will probably bring it to dealership to be looked at.

I always lube my shaft before using it.

Without hearing it, This sounds, depending on the volume, like the clock spring right behind the steering wheel. I have heard both these noises coming from Versas at this particular part. I would describe the non clicking noise as a scuffing, correct?

It may also sound like your transmission or muffler is dragging underneath your car grinding noise???? I had similar problem on my 2007.

Yes, your description is correct. Not very loud but it does catch my attention.

We had a similar noise in our Versa. It was caused by a copper colored piece of metal held by a bolt that is at the base of the steering column where it goes through the floorboard beneath the brake pedal. I bent it back out of the way and finally ended up cutting it. Not sure what it's purpose is (was), but no more noise. That was a year ago.
