hey all,

i noticed that my car's left front tire (atleast i think it's the left front tire) makes a weird clicking noise that gets faster as i accelerate. anyone know what this might be, and how i can fix it? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

i hvae the identical problem.. i hear it sooo loud when im near a wall or parked cars esp in city driving. somoene told me it might be a rotor that warped but i doubt it becuase the brakes work fine. i took it to my dealer twice and they refuse to acknowledge that there's a problem and its really starting to bug me alot.. they told me at the dealership that it might be rust inside of the wheel causing it to make the noise but i seriously doubt it.. gonna go back soon to check it out.. again

yes, exactly! when i get near other cars or near a wall it seems to amplify the sound. well, when i take my car in to replace the bc module (yet another problem) i'll let them know about that noise. also, i was wondering: did you hit something while driving? because i hit a cardboard box on the road (not sure if it had stuff inside it). i'm almost positive though that that isn't what caused the noise because i vaguely remember hearing it before that happend. plus, i don't think a cardboard box can cause that. another question i'm wondering: is the noise coming from the left front tire of your car as well? well, like i said, when i take it to the dealership, i'll ask them and hopefully they'll give me a straight answer and actually fix it. if and when it happens, i'll post the problem and solution here. anyone else have any idea what that soft clicking noise may be?

Why don't you guys jack the car up, put it in neutral with blocks behind the car and spin the wheel in question? Stick your head under there and have someone else spin the wheel while you listen to where the sound is coming from.

And for Captain Random, running without a MAF is going to cause your ECU to go into safe mode and your engine might not even rev past 2000 rpm or so. Gonna be tough to drive it for a week like that. No long-term effects as it will be running so pig rich that it will barely run especially under any kind of load.

according to the mechanic at the nissan dealership, the body control module runs certain electrical components in the car and having a faulty module will in no way hinder the quality of the engine. also, he says certain models after 06 came with this defect.... whatever assurance that can give anyone, i'll never know, but i guess he was trying to make me feel better lol. in anycase, he said it was perfectly fine to drive and that fixing the problem was just a matter of pulling the faulty one out and putting the new one in. the only thing is, i really haven't noticed anything wrong with any of the components in the car... hmm... maybe it's just me.

oh, and as far as jacking the car up goes to try and figure out the clicking noise, i might give that a shot. thanks for the advice.

I just got my coupe back from the dealer for that rattle/click. It seems it comes from the exhaust mounting flange. He shimmed the exhaust shield with a certain type of washer.. problem solved

hey shift_perfection,

well i have some good news (well, good for me lol): i found the source of the clicking for my car. i took the advise of another board member and jacked up the wheel that was making the noise. now, bare in mind, this was the clicking noise for my car, so it might not be the same for yours, but you never know. anywho, i spun the wheel to confirm that it was the one making the noise, and then i removed the wheel itself. afterwards, i rotated the disc brake and noticed the locking pin that holds the disc in place was not fastened tightly enough, and it was in fact that very same piece that was making the clicking noise. so, long story short, i tightened it down with the help of a strong set of pliers and TADAAA, the noise was gone. so, if you have five minutes to spare, or the next time you decide to wash your car (which is what i did) it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot. hopefully, that's what's causing your clicking noise too, and not something which would require the expertise of a mechanic. hope this helped. let me know if that was what was making the noise in your car.

Why don't you try another dealership in your area?
