Hello. I just got my V two weeks ago and love every aspect of it except it is making some annoying clicking noise when I am driving. The noise seems to come from the wheel area (or could be the drive shaft). I can reproduce it most of the time if I am driving at about 30 mph, brake to about 20, then lightly accelerate the car. When I do that I can hear this clicking noise from the wheel area. I think this might be some "slack" in the transmission causing this since this is the same clicking noise I hear when I shift into "R" in the morning.

Also if I go forward, brake, then go reverse, brake, I hear another clicking noise (probably from the pads shifting just like on my 10 yo Prelude). I am kind of sick of a new car making all these noise. Should I go back to the dealer and complain? Anyone else experiencing the same problem? I have a 07 Versa with CVT.

Same thing happened to mine when I first got it.I was all upset and brought it to the dealer...

Come to find out the Tire Valve stem was misaligned with the hubcap and kept hitting it - like a card in bicycle tire it caused a constant clicking...

Just try adjusting your hubcaps and make sure the valve stems are not too close to the metal parts of the hubcaps.

Hi. I bought mine almost a year ago and it also started making clicking noises and everytime I turned the wheel in either direction, there would be a click/clunk sound. It's very annoying. It comes and goes. I should take it to the dealer.

BTW- The alternator went out like 2 months of ownership. Had all these electrical problems with it. For example, now after they put in the new alternator; the "Auto" mirror button does not work, the power doorlocks button does not work, and it does not beep when you lock it. It's really weird.

1) there is no "auto mirror". The auto driver's up feature on the window is reset if the battery cable is ever disconnected (like when an alternator is replaced), and fixing it is easy. Roll the window all the way down, then roll it up and hold the switch for several seconds after the window is completely rolled up. You can then test the feature by rolling it down and back up again.

2) power door lock button not working is a serious issue. Take it to your dealer for repair.

3) not beeping when you lock is a programming function within the BCM. This value ALSO got reset when your alternator was replaced. This can be reprogrammed through the key fob (i think?), someone on here should know how to do it.

OP has an SL... alloy wheels, so no wheel covers.

MagGVersa - some people have had this clicking noise when rocks get stuck in their tires. Make sure your treads are clean all around. Also, the clicking when switching from R to D and back is normal in some transmissions, caused by slack in the diff. You will notice it more on a Versa than an older car because, well, the V is quieter to begin with, so the engine is not going to overpower the noise.

yeah I have an SL and no wheel covers. I thought it was rocks in my treads at first, but I just took both wheels off, took out all the rocks, put them back on, test drove it and it's still making the noise.

Sometimes I hear it when I lightly tap the gas pedal at low speed, sometimes I hear it when I let off the gas, and sometimes I hear it when I brake. It just goes like CLACK and then goes away. I hate noise like these from a new car. I also hate going to the dealer if it's not necessary because last time when they re-surfaced my rotor (brake vibration) they scratched my rim.

I just took my 07 Maurano to the dealer today because of the same clicking sound. They told me it was related to the CVT and the the joints had to oiled....something like that. I insisted that this should not be a normal event but they tried to tell me that this is not that unusual because of the FWD. Bogus! I have checked online and we are not the only ones with this complaint. I now have an appointment to get it taken care of at the same time they replace my NEW BRAKES, FIX MY CRUISE CONTROL AND THE SAFETY BELT Alert.

I would strongly suggest checking the torque of all your lug nuts. A slightly loose wheel will make the noise you've described.

Took it to the dealer today and the tech could re-produce the sound under light acceleration. They took the driveshafts off and lubed the heck outta it and now the noise seems to have disappeared. Hopefully tomorrow morning when I go to work and shift from P to R the noise will be gone too. (knock on wood).

Just wonder how long these "lube" solutions will last.

I've had an annoying ticking noise coming from my front driver's side wheel. It did sound a lot like there was something stuck in the tire (the noise seemed to occur once for every revolution of the wheel... made sense to me). So, I spent two weeks randomly pulling little pebbles (soooo many of them) out of the treads, but nothing helped.

I took it to the dealer this morning for my 9-month service and mentioned it to them, but they couldn't reproduce the noise. The weather sucked all day today, so you couldn't really hear it. (Of course, it was sunny about an hour after I picked up the car, and there was the stupid noise again!)

Well, tonight I got totally frustrated and ripped the wheel cover off (I have an '07 S with the crappy wheel covers) and now the noise is gone. I know somebody in this thread mentioned there can be a noise when the tire stem and the wheel cover are misaligned, but I don't think that was it... The two weren't even close to each other.

So I'm wondering now... How can something that is turning with the tires cause a noise like that?

Hello all. Folks, I've been reading these postings and the explanations offered don't work for me. I'm still concerned about this. Any other thoughts?

2008 SL (CVT and no wheel covers), makes the clicking sound clearly and regularly. It feels like it comes from the transmission/drive shaft but hard to tell which side. If I had to guess I'd say right side but hard to say. It's usually just one very noticeable click but it happens under similar but different circumstances, about 90% of the time when: - start the car; press on brake pedal and shift into R while still holding brakes (no car movement.) - back out of a parking space, shift from R to D (sometimes before, and sometimes during the initial movement.) - stop at a light (remain in drive); when moving from brake to gas and pressing lightly on gas. - slow down to a near stop and then start picking up speed again.

I'm positive it's not pebbles in the tires because it happens with no movement.I'm positive it's nothing to do with wheel covers because there are none.I'm positive it's not simply a bad CV joint, because it's just one click and there's no noise when turning corners, etc.I've read elsewhere that it could be an ABS self-test, but how can that be related to stopping/going or slowing down and then picking up or when shifting between R and D or vice-versa (no pun intended)?Given the noise and circumstances, a lube issue (suggested somewhere above) doesn't make sense to me.

I hear clicking noise from my wheels too, it gets more constant the faster I go. I think its like a rock or something stock in the wheels.

After a 6k trip in 8 days. My engines fliking noise is much louder now. I dont know if its messed up.
