So today I did a little bit of off roading in my 1999 Qx4 and me and some buddies went through a particular puddle well turns out there was a radge in the middle I the puddle and I didn't hear any clunk or scrape or anything but I did get stuck momentarily but I got out by myself nun the less. And now I'm hearing a clicking sound or rubbing sound not quite sure which. But it is coming from the rear of my car. I've washed out all the mud and grass and everything and still the noise is there... If anyone can help me figure out what's going on that would be great! I'm not trying to go to the shop just for a diagnostic. And I felt like I would ask here first! Also does anyone know roughly how much it would cost for both front and rear axles, and if I should get aftermarket axles or just stock, keep in mind that I do plan on getting my qx4 lifted soon. So should I get aftermarket axels or just replacement factory..??? Please help me out!!

Inspect all the bushings for play or damage and check for play in the wheel bearings by jacking up the car and trying to shake the wheel side to side - if there is any movement, your wheel bearing is loose.

Changed the front and rear differential fluids and transfer case fluids ever?

Haha.. Once I was with with my friend and his dad about 100miles from home in a Honda CVVC something. It was 1/2 size of a civic. Anyways we took the car out while his dad was working on the boat and we were abusing it fully when we noticed it was making a horrible racket.

His dad immediately knew we abused the the car and well it was just bad... bad mojo rest of the weekend as well as the drive home with the car sounding like it was ready to explode at any momment.

Finally found out the culprit.. a little rock lodged itself right inside the motor mount and basically turned the whole frame into a sound amplifier.

Yes we were tearing it up on a gravel road BTW..
