when im driving slowly out of my drive to test the car out i hear knocking/ clicking around the transmission where the shifter is (as if each time the transmission rotates it sounds like something is rubbing up on the frame) within the car and also there seems to be a leak that looks like radiator fluid but it leaking around ubbnder the car under the ppassenger seat side

what could be the prob?

Not real sure about the transmission chatter but my advice on the mystery fluid is to smell it. So people are against this but get a little on your finger and touch it to your tounge. If it's coolant, it will be very sweet. Also, nothing but fuel or brake fluid would be coming directly from that area so jack up the car and see where it is running down from. It may be coolant coming from a loose or bad heater core hose. (the "T" that has hoses running into firewall on passenger side.)

ALright i will fully check the fluid tommorow but I am actually more worried about the transmission problem...

do you guys think it might be a clutch problem? drive shaft prob? etc?

Well first off, is it a pattern to the noise? Fast continuous clicks, thuds or thumps? Have you ruled out the possibility of the noise coming from outside the transmission like coming in contact with transmission tunnel. Is this the first you've driven it with the RB?

It was more like flat thumps/thudding than an annoying constant click click click. Yes it was my first time test driving the rb. I had the rb running since wed last week and finally finished connecting my IC pipings and radiator hoses in today so I thought I would test it out. the ride felt PERFECT mechannically, the drive was smooth but I can hear the sound from inside the car...

Mine did that in my S14 because the bell housing sat to close to the tunnel and it would hit when the engine torqued. Also upon startup when the motor was cold and ran a little more rough.

how did you fix/ repair it? was there frame/transmission/driveshaft damage afterwards you found the prob?

Well I checked the transmission tunnel when I pulled the motor and it appears they used the old hammer method to gain some clearance. Could just be the mounts that I have making my motor set back farther that nessecary. I just installed the RB into my new S14 and its doing the clunk again. so I may have to get new mounts or get out the hammer.

how long did you drive it around till you end up fixing it? I work at a local auto shop but decided to do my swap in my garage instead but if I could drive the car to the shop which is no more than 0.5miles away then it would be great

It doesn't seem to effect much aside from just being noisy. I mean, the mounts will keep it from destroying anything important. And you can't really hurt the bell housing with a slight contact with the tunnel. I haven't fixed it yet in the new car but if thats the problem in your situation, I wouldnt see any problem driving it to the shop.

I would let the car run for 5 - 10 mins then jack it up. See where the fluid is coming from and fix your problem. If you can't determine where its coming from clean or get something and clean a area where you think its coming from. Usually a cloth or some sort of material will soak.

As for the noise if you think you are unsure where its coming from get a buddy and put him/her in the car. 4 ears are better than two. That way you can see which side is louder. If both sides to hear the same you might have a problem with your drift shaft. If its not than you might have a bigger problem. You may have to take your transmission off and see if you installed the clutch / flywheel / bearings correctly (if you touched it). zh1t like this fuks things up.

Let us know.

For gods sake, don't taste fluids. You can smell coolant.

This is from a guy who took a good taste of power steering fluid!! To quote the simpsons... "Tastes like burning".

Could the clicking be your driveshaft hitting something?

Cool I found and solved both of my problems today thanks guys!!!

I drove it to my shop that I worked at, lift it up and found out that I did not put back the bracket that holds up the middle of the s13 driveshaft in place, hence the thumping noise!!!

Also, I traced the fluid all the way back to my heater core, apparently one of the hoses cracked so I replaced it.

gotta freakin love hydralic lifts <33333333

If you left the driveshaft bearing bracket off, I bet that thumping was loud as h3ll lol.

It honestly sounded like it was gonna break! Think about 45-50mph w/ the center of your driveshaft rotating and banging inside the tunnel. Heck, I felt the vibration of its bang from sitting in my seat
