Okay WTF? I have a "transmission malfunction" code. And there's a single click every time I depress my brake pedal while the car is in park. The clicking is coming from shifter area. Maybe behind the ash tray. Oh and the speedo is still not working. DAMMIT!!

the clicking sound is normal,you should have been hearing it from day one if all is working correctly.transmission codes must be read.Broken speedo is unusual,especially at those {indicated} low miles......have you researched cars history to be sure miles displayed are accurate and not turned back or speedo replaced with a lower mile unit {more common than you think on used cars}

Thats not normal because I spent some time making sure I can't hear that noise when moving the shifter lever from Park to any other position. I am sure a 50K car doesn't make that noise when new, otherwise plenty of customers would complain causing a Technical Service Bulletin to arise about this issue.

After re-greasing the shifter assembly all I can hear now is the relay inside the Transmission Control Unit but I have that kick panel off for now.

I don't think that's normal either cause my 92 Q doesn't make that noise. I wonder what part could click in that area. Otherwise the car drives perfectly. Help!!!

There is a lock that prevents you from moving the transmission lever out of Park if the brake is not depressed. When you depress the pedal, a solenoid actuates to unlock the lever.

If the click is new and not just previously unnoticed, a snubber in the solenoid may have fallen out. Typically these are a small piece of rubber to prevent the slide from banging into the solenoid frame.

Will I need to replace this solenoid. Or this snubber?

Make sure it actually needs replacing before wasting your time and money.....as I said in my previous post, it is NORMAL to hear a single click type sound when depressing brake pedal while in park position.

There is no rubber piece shown on the dealer parts program. I think Infiniti used grease of some sort but then wore off.

For a more permanent solution you might try something like this: http://www.harborfreight.com/14-1-2-hal ... -2779.html
