on certain settings my ac makes a weird ticking noise. when it is on dash vents only it does this, but if i pick floor vents, or dash+floor it doesnt make a noise, the air is always cold but the noise is driving me crazy, and my feet are cold. anyone have a problem like this?

Does it sound like it might be a leaf or something blowing around in a duct somewhere?

My 95 just started doing the same exact thing. It sounds like there is a limit switch that isn't making contact, causing the actuator to continue trying to close the air valve. I haven't dug into the dash yet, but if anyone has a direction to go with this one, we could use the help.

still cant find the source of the clicking, any luck? sounds like it is coming from the a/c control unit.

do you think it could be stuck ? I was playing around with my ac with the dash off ....just watching how the vents open and close when I change the air to feet or face... or both... it may be stuck and it is clicking like that because it's trying to direct the air up or down and got hung in the process.

its possible, but I can see through the vents if its bright enough i can see back into the panel the moves up and down to direct air flow, and moves just fine...i'll look more closley next time.

While it's clicking, push one of the vent buttons ever so slightly so that the one that's pushed in pops out. When no button is pushed in, the mix door motor won't try to do anything. If the clicking stops then that is indeed the source of the noise.

i had my dash off the other day and found a plug unpluged. i pluged it back up and it started clicking right behind the plug which is part of the ac unit. i dont know what it is either, but the plug is located right behind the radio. i unplugged it until i could figure it out. can any one help?

okay I did that, I pressed one of the other buttons just enough so that none of them were selected, still makes the noise. It actually does it on all the settings except "floor+dash vents"

you say that you found a wire disconnected...can I get a picture or better description so I can hunt it down?

thanks all...maybe one day i can have a quiet a/c
