I've always preferred the tactile feedback of a click-style torque wrench.

We have 2 of the click-type at work and thats all we use. Out of the shop its the only kind I use, although I'm sure the digital is accurate too.

They don't make a sweet click noise. I'm kinda curious too. I've never used a digital.

I have bothA snap on 3/8 drive digital and snap on break away 1/4-3/8-and 1/2

i like the breakaway much better than the digital. Its way to easy to overtorque with the digital

Basically, it all comes down to personal preference. I personally use a click style torque wrench. No matter which style you go with it's recommended that it be calibrated every 8000-12000 "cycles" or clicks of the wrench. The torque wrench is a highly sensitive tool and should be treated as such becuase if you start tossing it around the shop or playing fetch with your dog with it you'll need to have it calibrated more often. There are a few highly advanced wrenches out there specifically designed for high volume use such as this one manufatured by Tohnichi http://www.findarticles.com/p/...64773

If you're using it for general duty around the shop, you should be more than happy with the Craftsman 1/2" 20-150ft-lbs http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr...flk.0The maximum of 150ft-lbs. should be more than enough for general automotive use.

A beam type torque wrench isn't accurate enough for some automotive work. The beam type is nice to have around though when the manual says "And then torque an additional 35 degrees past 45ft-lbs".

I only torque head bolts, rod and main caps. The rest is PFT.

OH DEAR LORD, click types are a bad idea. sure they're useful, but if it's torqued farther than the setting on the wrench, you won't know you'll just hear a click.

Why I use a beam. Although if you pull it in a slow controlled manner a clicker will get it done.

I have a 1/2" and 3/8" micro-torque click type craftsman wrenches that work fine. But I've been using one in school from snap-on (TECH2FR100) and I think I'm gonna get my own. Beeps and vibrates when you get close to your setting, comfortable, and easy to set.

I use a beam type, not because im terribly attached to it but it was cheap and does what its supposed to do. Off topic but is that a twin turbo SR in your sig!?!is it yours?

Anything related to internal of the engine I torque and use an angle gauge for those torque to yield bolts. Cam caps, head studs, rod bolts, main bolts... that's about it really.

Other than that... I estimate hahaha.

Yeah im trying to get it here to the states. Its in japan now and wasnt too much in a hurry to bring it so I left it at my mechanics shop. It should be for sale here pretty soon. But yea the turbines on them are HKS 2835R and the motor is pushing out close to 750hp. IT has a OS Giken Dog Mission, ATS triple plate clutch, 1 piece carbon drive shaft, Tomei 264 in and 272 ex cams, 2.3liter stroker, boosting at about 1.8bar with 3 external hks 255 fuel pumps. Its alot to handle.

Very Impressive, never actualy seen an SR20DETT before. Good luck with the importing.
