I think I have the infamous rattle sound from the guide on top of the timing chain of the KA24DE. I've got what I think is *the* sound at the front of the valve cover. Does it sound like you are shaking a can of spray paint?

yeah, sounds kinda like that. I just pulled my valve cover off today and found my top chain guide broke right off of the mount and was bouncing around.

go to autozone, or wherever you go for parts, get the valve cover gasket. it's like 15 bucks. but it's an easy repair.

just make sure the gasket is on right. when I put mine on and turned the engine on, oil shot out at me. I had to wait for it to cool and pull the cover again.

Wow, thats great that it was bouncing around. It seemed pretty solid when I was inspecting it, but safety first. I'll change the gasket. Thanks!
