If you don't know, my car hasn't been running for about a month. It died on a rural, unlighted canyon road in the middle of the night and my buddy towed it to his house, where it's been sitting.

Well, I fixed it finally. And after I fixed it I realized I am truly a lazy jackass. I socketed my ecu myself, actually 2 ecus. It turns out I'm not very good. Desoldering is simple enough once you get the hang of it. I did great at that part. But when I soldered in the socket I was running low on solder and I really started skimping at each of the 28 pins. So I didn't have a good enough connection at God knows how many pins. They did look crappy, maybe 1/4 of the pin surrounded on several pins. I made it all pretty now and my problems vanished. Live and learn.

Here's what was going on. My injectors wouldn't close, so my pump kept pumping. Then the injectors would open and close sporadically, and the a/c and pump relays would click and go nuts. Strange stuff. Anyway it's all better now. It wasn't all for not though, because I added a bunch of grounds and cleaned up some wiring and other stuff. But I went through about 1/4 tank of gas just letting the pump go and cranking the motor without it ever starting.

My advice to anyone that isn't skilled at soldering and plans on socketing their own ecu: DON'T! I'm pretty good with my hands (hehe) and it was sort of a pain, but additionally it was risky to get the gun tip so close to the circuit board. Ha I went to scratch my face while I was soldering and the tip touched my lip and just destroyed the first couple layers of skin.

Back on the road, finally. I'm still buying an SDS though.

On the 73. I thought I was going much slower, but I looked down and I had just pinned my speedo past the 115 mark. I forgot to put the KA speed sensor in my trans so the longer rear end causes the speedo to read around 7-10% lower than it should. So, at least 125. I was cruising around 70, then just decided to push it in 5th and got there pretty quick, plenty power left at that point.
