You CAN run the auto ecu, but it'll run alot better with the manual and they're so cheap so why not? My main problem with the auto on the manual transmission is the revs stay up way too long after letting off the gas and going into neutral...

SeVa, is that right? I know some people in the KA forum were trying to figure that problem out after the 5 speed swap, and changing the ECU was the only thing I could think of. God, Im a genius.

You do not need 5spd center console trim, the auto part will detach from underneath and should reveal mounting points for the shift boot.

Also if I remember correctly, just turn your auto transmission Xmember around and it should mount the manual.

so i just need to turn the crossmember around and the bolt hole line right up? are you sure? it just sounds too easy.how is the driveability with an auto ECU, i've heard talk about a bouncing idle if the 5spd ECU is not used.

I am happy mine came stick, even though its a nice project it just seems like alot of extra work. On top of that my friend went in to get his clutch changed when he bought his car and the 500 dollar job turned into about a 750 dollar job. Reason? They had to shim out the Slave and Master Cylinder to get everything to work 100%. Good luck on the swap.

Tell your frind to drive up to Buffalo Grove if he wants a $500 clutch job. I'll be happy to rob him, lol.

And I may be retarded, but wtf is "shimming" the master and slave cylinders? The slave is hydraulically connected via a flexible rubber hose at the point where any fitment issues may arise. And they shouldn't even have to touch the master cylinder except to unscrew the top to bleed the system, which is unecessary too.

I *think* the Xmember turnaround should work. It may sound to easy; but it also sounds like something a large company trying to maximize profit and minimize parts would do. The only car I ever used an Auto ECU on was a friend's 92 convertible and it idled fine from what I remember. The only gripe we had was the whole enrichment at off throttle, causing the revs to stay up longer and fall slower -- but it wasn't all that bad and I believe his sister still drives the car at college every day.

Well i prolly wouldnt be doing it, but the car came with almost everything i need to do it, i couldnt resist. Now if i had to buy ALL the parts i would just buy another 240 as a 5spd.H3ll, buying another 240 is harder than swaping to 5spd

You also need the M/T Flywheel bolts and the bellhousing Bolts of an M/T. The M/t bolts are longer than the A/t.
