Well, Ive been reading alot the past few weeks, but I still have a couple of questions I need answered before I begin my build... Firstly, I havent selected my turbo yet, simply because I havent gotten in touch with Jordan Gladman again. I will be going with his manifold for the KA24E. I plan on going with a SAFCII 460CC or 370CC injectors (what do you guys think here?), a Walbro 255 fuel pump... Im gonna rig up some custom IC piping, with an Ebay FMIC... I prolly will go with a DSM BOV... I am aiming for about 250whp. Now, for the questions...

Where exactly do I tap into the engine for the oil lines? Im completely oblivious as to how to set oil lines up.

The downpipe... now... what downpipe can I use, and where does it go/how does it hook up? I already have a 2.5" exhaust, which will be fine for what Im shooting for.

Where does a BOV hook up at?

Finally.. wastegates... how does these hookup/where exactly do they go? How will I know what kind I need?

Sorry for the somewhat stupid questions... just with all the terminology, its hard to keep up sometimes.. and even when reading, you can only get a general idea of how things hookup.

Thanks in advance for answers, and thanks for all the great posts in the past.

Your oil feed line will come from your oil pressure sender, which is directly next to where your oil filter is. There is a factory plug there, you unscrew that and put on a "T" fitting-- one for the factory plug, the other for your feed line which will of course run to the turbo. The return line goes to a bung that you will have to weld into the oil pan.

Downpipes usually have to be custom made due to the extreme variation in manifold/turbo design. Some mandrel bent 90 degree turns will be fine... cut them up and have someone weld them together for you just like IC piping. Not sure what you mean by asking where does it go.... its the pipe that connects between the turbo outlet and the rest of your exhaust....

Wastegate vaccum routing varies depending on what kind of boost control you are using, or if you want to just use spring pressure. What kind of wastegate you need depends on what kind of turbo/manifold setup you have: the most basic thing to find out is internal vs external wastegate. Beyond that most people I know use Tial brand gates. I do...

Good luck with your setup!

Thanks... Let me clarify about the downpipe... After the exhaust runs its course to spin the turbo, it exits through the downpipe, which then leads to the cat and on out through the rest of the exhaust, right?

The oil feed line info really helped...

I am trying to get down all the basics, and yeah Ive heard turboing a car isnt all that hard, but Im really beginning to doubt alot of it. Might be stuck going with 'the dark side'.... :-( I want 2.4 liters...

u need those parts for the turbo feed line. i had a clearence prob with them hitting my alternator bracket so i dont what to do now. i have the gladman mani witha t3 also. its a good mani for the price. for a low boost setup go with an internal adjustable wastegate so u can set the boost level. i use some rx-7 460cc high impedence injectors for my setup. any have any info on the clearence issue with the bracket?

First of all, do you have a really limited budget? If you do, a lot of your options will be limited by that.

For injectors, I suggest you get the 460's because it'll give you some extra fuel when it becomes necessary. The safc will work fine with it. Remember, if you're on a limited budget, you may have to settle for 370's that you can get easily from the classifieds.

You tap the oil feed line from the oil pressure sender. It's located under the oil filter. You can get an oil line kit from various places. The return drain line from the turbo has to go to the oil pan. There are a few older threads that give more detail as to where the best place to tap is located.

The downpipe connects the turbo to the cat.

The blow-off valve vacuum line is tapped from the fpr vacuum line. Again, you can do a search to find where that is. If you can't find it because the search function is screwed up, or don't find what you're looking for, you can start a new thread.

A lot of turbos come with a wastegate. It's called an internal wastegate. There's a little vacuum line that comes off of the wastegate actuator. You connect this line to the intake, or a vacuum line. There's also an external wastegate, which does the same thing, but is integrated on the manifold... but I don't have any experience with them. But I think an internal wastegate with a boost controller can meet your goals.

A good way to see where everything hooks up is by looking at a KA-T engine bay, and naming all the parts. You can look in NICO members' rides for KA-T engine bays, or in the thread that's still on the front page.

Good luck with your project.. and remember, NICO is here for you!
