Out of curiosity, did you get the curved or straight slots? Any thoughts as to why the curvature, or lack thereof, makes any kind of difference?

The curves will have present more trap/cooling area, to the air flow for more cooling (a curve is longer than straight line)In the staright ones, the less loss of surface contact area in the straight one, may make for more immdaite "bite".

At least in theory those are the trade off's either way ,in practice I suspect no difference will be noticable.

Stillen Brembos from Joe were $175 for the front pair, last time I bought them two months ago.

Do these Brembos make any noise when you brake? I hate skeaky brakes! Do the pads wear out quiker than using stock rotors? Do you have to use diferent pads or the stock ones? My next brake job will need rotors and this seems like a good deal.

These would be the ones I would go with if I had to do it over again. Right now I have new OEM's.

It's a good deal in that the rotors are heavier and will resist warping longer. However, they can''t be turned.

Running them with stock pads on my Austin Q45 and am very pleased. Will convert Seattle Q45 within a year.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45

In my case, for my 95Q, I used Bradi's (not Brembo's that you are asking about, although they are sort of sister companies from what I understand) that I bought from irotors.com (they also sell on eBay) and OEM Infiniti pads. This was an excellent combination ... no squeal, just a bit of typical slotted/drilled rotor sound (not a bad noise, either) when braking. Consistent braking feel and good performance!

i bought all 4 and are using metal master pads. no squeeling and works pretty well. i like them alot. they use to go for more awhile back. very good deal if you ask me, might be able to find cheaper somewhere else. if do please post.

edit;i have abosolutely no sound when i have my windows down. whether i'm braking hard or soft.

cheap pads will give u the sqealing sound. i don't know which ones are good, but i'm using the metal master for my J30. i've replaced all four rotors and pads and no sound.

I have a bit of semi loud squeaking (when the windows are up i can hear it sometimes) when i press the brakes lightly... it only lasts for a 1/2 second or so....

I came very close to buying these, but ended up getting the same rotors a little cheaper, from another eBayer (rotorsrus2000). The guy responded within hours of my inquriys, made me a sweetheart deal on the fronts ($100.00, shipped), and I got the rears for $50.00 plus $34 shipping. The rotors are straight slotted, cross drilled, and zinc plated.

He responded to every inquiry promptly. He shipped the product the day after I paid. I even got a tracking number emailed to me, from UPS.

I an not too crazy about not being able to true them, but ever since I started breaaking in my pads and rotors, I have not had any brake vibrations.

I will give a full report on them, when I install them. I still need to get the Tokiko Blues, and the brake pads, before I do a full installation. I plan to use OEM pads from Joe.

My neighbor has a commercial steam cleaner. I am going to borrow it, put the car on jackstands, and clean the entire suspension, engine, and underside of the car.

Excuses me when I fumble with the terms. I’m not a mechanic, so I’ll probably have a lot of stupid questions. When you say that the rotors can’t be turned, you mean that they can’t be resurfaced, right? Then if you can’t resurface those Brembo rotors, do you have to change your rotors every time you need to replace your pads? As all you first gen Q owners know these cars are a bear on their brakes. My 67k Q is on its third set of pads, and it does a lot of city driving. If I’m changing my pads and rotors every 25k or so, that isn’t cost effective for a little better braking performance. If that’s the case with the fact that the rotors can’t be turned, then maybe the stock rotors, which work fine and can be resurfaced about three times, is the way to go with me.

Brian,

What would you estimate the life is on the brembo rotors, as compared to the 40k(?) for OEM?

Haven't had the Stillen (brembo) rotors long enough to comment on wear. I have been told they can be turned, but only by someone highly skilled with excellent lathes and bits. The main advantage is they weigh about 4 lbs. more than stock, even though drilled. I would get them solid if I could.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45
