I imported an actual 88' Silvia K and I've been messing around with catbacks etc.I bought a 3" DownPipe for an SR car and got an SR elbow. I found when I bolted it up that the DP sat REALLY close to the frame rail (like less than a CM clearance) and wouldn't bolt up to that mount on the transmission that the stock one does.I also had to really reef on the Cat-Back to line the two up which I know must be wrong.

Do you guys with the SR elbow and DP just live with this? Or is my DP not made right?

I'm not sure, as I've got the flyn dumppipe from austrailia (which has it's own problem) but I've heard of this before. You may just have to have the DP cut and rewelded.

I have a 3" SR O2 housing (elbow) and downpipe. It comes VERY close to hitting the frame rail, and I couldn't use the transmission mount either. At low revvs, the dp bounces off the frame rail and makes for some fun rattle-trap noises when in a parking lot or from a soft launch. I am planning on getting some flex pipes and v-band clamps and wrapping the downpipe in heat wrap to rectify the problem. I know that NeedCAforS13 (Sean) uses heat wrap on his dp to make it shut up (silent as it bounces off frame rail) A set of Nismo exhaust hangers would be nice too...

Just part of the game man. I use an HKS SR catback with my SR piping and it all fits like a glove. So as far as your catback issue, I have no clue.

my downpipe comes REAL close to the frame rail... it hits from time to time, and used to hit more before I replaced my motor mounts. I also had trouble lining up my exhaust, but once I got it all bolted together it seems to fit fine In order to get everything to fit like stock, you will probably have to cut and reweld the downpipe slightly. Using SR stuff allows it to work, but not perfectly.

Cool thanks, I just wanted to confirm it wasn "just me" since no one had mentioned those clearance issues. (Just the Master Cylinder one, but mine is RHD so I don't have that issue obviously)

I think I'll try to modify the DP for better clearance. We'll see how well that goes Gotta get a new turbo first, crummy small stock one didn't like 12psi....
