Clear Side Markers

I've managed to find clear versions of the front turn signal/parking lights and the front side markers for a '91 hatch. But I've searched and searched and I can't seem to find the rear side markers in clear. Anyone know where to find them? Clear Corners has a set, but they're outrageously priced and ugly.

Not as far as I can tell. The front ones just pop in. The rear ones have two threaded posts in them with a bracket on the inside that holds them in. I'm thinking about getting and extra set of front ones and prying the lens off, but that's my last resort.

I thought about this too. Buy these, remove rear side markers and replace lenses. Trust me, this is the best and cheapest option you got.

Yea, that's what it's looking like I'm going to have to do. I know they used to be fairly common on eBay, but I guess the demand has died down. Have you replaced the lenses like that? Any tips or things to be careful with?

No, no one makes or sells clear REAR side markers. I think main reason might be it's becasue JDM silvia/180sx didn't come with rear side markers. Anyway, just put them in the oven and you should be able to separate the lenses. IIRC, it was for 30 min in 250 degrees.

Check with your local laws. Some states it may be illegal to have side markers even though most nowadays are clear. (Jetta?)

A buddy put some on his 91 SR chuki and cops pulled him over plus inspection place wouldn't pass it. They are nice and I thought about it too until he did it FYI .

Well I got the clear turn signals and front side markers off eBay. I love the quality and they look great. I was going to follow 94_240sx's advice and replace the lens manually, but when I started prying off the old amber lens I realized that's probably not going to work. The inside of the stock side marker is a tannish color, not silver like the clear ones. I might try painting them, but I don't think I'd be able to get a good coat of paint in all the corners and stuff and I'm afraid it'll look like crap. Here's to hoping someone decides to make rear ones I guess.

There's shiny silver engine enamel paint you can buy from auto parts store. I think chrome spray paint is available as well if you look. I'd spray paint inside with one of those.
