Ive been looking on ebay to see if there were any headlights with similar dimensions, that we could fit into a Q45........

BMW e36 (i think) headlights fit right into 92+ cadillac eldorado, and 92-97 sevilles...... it makes them look really good........

Taking in mind how great the Qs headlights already are, would it be possible to get new glass that doesnt have all those little diffuser things on it, and have it be clear........

I think this, along with some silverstar bulbs, would make the Q look much newer......

I thought you used up your "one dumb question" in the audio forum?

(j/k:D)

Too much work - No matter WHAT you plan to install, there's gonna be MAJOR bodywork and mounting issues. You NEED the diffusion, unless you have projector headlights. If you want that, buy an aftermarket HID system ($6-800).

You've got other things to fix first, Wes... But it's good to daydream!

p.s Get the Silverstars - They're SWEET! I love mine.

I looked at the design, and they look similar to the ones on newer cars (like on our GTP)..... Their not projector type.......

I was thinking of simply using the same headlights and using clear glass......

But your right....... There are MANY more things to be done first!!!!

That was my point - You can't use clear glass and retain the same "throw" of the light - The lenses are faceted in such a manner as to disperse the light where it's needed. If you had clear lenses, you'd have light going every which way, and probably very little where you want it.

The J30 (and many other cars with "clear" (non-faceted) lenses has projector lamps, wherein the light is focused by a parabolic reflective surface to where it will be the most useful.

Go put your shocks on and give that old girl a good claybar treatment. :D

I bow down to thee, your Hitman-ness...... :D

I would be cool to find something like that though...... I bet a day at a junkyard you could find something.......

But you cant complain about the Qs headlights....... They're better than some, if not most cars on the road today!!! Maybe when i recover from the shocks (700 plus whatever labor is going to be), ill throw in some superstars.... I saw them at meijer for 10/bulb....... Probably werent the right ones......

Actually, the "ol girl" is in the shop...... im getting tension rod bushings, upper links, shocks, oil change, fuel filter (had an OEM, they put it in), steering dust boots (finally), and I had some air in the PS........ I get her back tomorrow, and hopefully this weekend it will get a full detail...... If not, next weekend for the Indiana meet!!!!!

Excellent!

The Silverstars are SO nice, make sure you get both high and low beams.

Try driving a 94 Civic Si for a few years and you'll REALLY appreciate the Q lighting. 2 things I hated about that car - the A/C and the headlights.

Yeah....... I drove my grandparents 95 cadillac fleetwood (I was in need of some major pimpage :pimp: ), and the high beams on that arent even as bright as the low beams on the Qs.....

The thing thats stupid about GM cars is that when you turn on the high beams the low beams turn off......!

I actually checked on this once - about getting clear lenses and projection installed. They said that with glass lenses they wouldn't be able to polish the "optics" (those square things) out so it was a no-go. I suspect that someone that really knows what they're doing could get a set and grind them out and polish them somehow, but like everything else, there's the old cost vs. value equation to consider. I'd love to have smoked lenses with projectors on the Q though... maybe when I have some extra cash sitting around...
