My G37 is scheduled to arrive the day after Thanksgiving. I have been discussing a clear bra with the salesman. The material his subcontractor uses is called DuraShield. I have found enough references to it on the Internet to believe it is a respectable brand.

I anticipated that the clear bra would start at the bottom of the air dam and extend up onto the hood with cut outs as needed for air intakes and lights. The salesman showed me a typical installation (price $695) which only covered the front few inches (about 12") of the hood as well as the fenders outside the headlights. The bumper and air dam, which are composite (plastic), remained unprotected. The mirrors also were covered. According to the salesman, the bra material does not adhere well to composite and the composite material is not very susceptible to damage despite its location. In my opinion, it is the area below the headlights that is most in need of protection, not the hood nor the mirrors.

Does anyone have a clear bra installed? If so, what is the material and how much does it cover? Any thoughts about what really needs to be covered?

I originally posted this in a Altima thread. You definitely want the front bumper to be covered. As for the bra not sticking well to composite areas - I'm assuming that the front of my 2003 G35 is composite as well as the mirrors. My Bra has adhered to these places well.

Below is my orignal post.

I posted a thread on Clear Bras - but since many folks don't do a search before starting a new thread I will repost pics here.

I did not buy the bra on ebay and I'm sure it was professionally installed - maybe you can talk your way into watching a professional do it - to see how hard it would be to do yourself. I say if you can afford have it professionally installed if you don't have the skills.

My car has a Star Shield Armor Clear Bra package that protects entire front end including mirrors, bumper/air dam, headlights, covers 100% of hood, and about 30% of the front fender.

I'm not sure how long the sheild has been on the car - my car is a 2003 and I cannot be certain that the bra has been on the whole time - but based on how the first owner took care of the car I wouldn't be surprised.

There is no noticeable discoloration that I can tell. It is starting to peel ever so slightly on a couple of edges but they are minor and nowhere easily noticed. My car has the entire hood covered. If you are considering one - you should at least get the bumper, headlights and mirrors. Especiially if they can protect the mirror turn signals.

Good Luck
