So, I have about 300 miles on my 07 and already have 2 or 3 chips in the front. I got an estimate for a clear bra for 600. Not 3M, but they are covering more of the car (bumber, hood, fenders, lights, mirrors). Got 2 other estimated (3M) but less coverage (no lights no mirrors) 70 dollars more. Is this a good price? Do I definitly need it? Should I worry it's not 3M? How do I fix the chips that I already have? I ordered touch up paint from the dealer. Please help!!!

the chips you already have you'll want to go to a body shop[ to have them fixed properly, no point sealing the chips in there under the wrap, as for price I seem to recall a local running the 30 package for about 600 and a club member comenting that he got it somewhere for 400, of course it was likely the off brand and less coverage

Mine was 3M with a lifetime warranty, and it covers about 1/3 of the hood, the bumper, fenders and backs of the mirrors...

$600.

So for $600 and not 3M, that's not a good deal in my opinion. I know what you mean about the paint chips...I even already have a big crack in my windshield. If you drive on the interstate a lot like I do, I'd definitely recommend a clear bra.

Just curious, as to if you got it done and what has been your experience with it?The 3M film looks the best long term if yor car is not a garage queen.

There is a product I use for chips called Langka and it works great to blend in your touch up paint. There are also independant mobil shops that fix chips. Car dealers use them all the time on new cars. The Z is VERY prone to chips with the big flat facia. This is why I went straight from the dealer (7 miles on it) after I bought the car to a 3m shop. The 3m product is by far the best but prices vary around the country. I paid $500 to get the facia, hood and mirrors done. Its very hard to do the job perfect without some waves in it. I had them re apply the hood 3 times before it was right. Get the paint right though BEFORE you apply the bra. Also, when you wax the car, you can even wax the 3m product at the same time!! Its worth every penny.

I would just get the metal surfaces done. Stuff like the hood, headlights, bottom of doors, fenders, and mirrors. Everything else is just plastic, it's not like it'll corrode like the metal bits would if the metal is exposed from chipping. Are you going to eventually get a body kit on ur Z? no need to protect parts that are going to be discarded later ya kno.

The Z hood is not very difficult. I f they had to do it 3x, they are not very good. Plz use another installer for your next car. i would do it for you -- but too far away. 3M Certified.

My installer is 3M certified too and it seems NO one can do the job right the first time, whether its putting a door in your house, painting the car, or putting a bra on your car. And when its not perfect like you were promised, there are always excuses. "The weather was humid, the dust was bad, my installer is new, the lighting was poor, etc." I have heard it all with owning many cars over the years.

I f you get a bra for your Z make sure you take it off frquently and clean under it. If you don't dirt and stuff will get under it and scratch the paint.

Agreed, but we are talking about a 3M clear bra protectant and not a removeable facia bra. Those are the worst to have on your car, except for short drives as they will absolutely damage the paint with moisture behind them or flapping at high speeds.

I do not want to discredit your installer since I dont know them. If the conditions are not right , I will not do the install. i am mobile and everyones garage or dealer is not created equal and everyone has a different definition of clean. i personally would be leery of a jack of all trades....so if he claims to be a carpenter and a horse trainer also........ run. I only install film , between 4 - 9 a week. But , there is no such thing as absolute perfection. I do try though.
