anyone done this? i just changed out the regulator with a brand new one, and it didn't make any difference [raises slow]. on the motor, looks like the electrical part separates from the gear part with 2x #1 phillips. i chikened out taking the motor apart as i didn't have a spare laying around, was afraid they might not reassemble, as the 'electrical part' seems all one piece.

$218 wholesale!! yikes. I've had good success in the past cleaning armature and brushes, lubing everything, etc.

just wondering if anyone has any tips.

Ive never done that, but have you tried jumping the motor directly with 12v or something... Maybe voltage loss after the LCU or something?

Try spraying the window channels with silicone, give them a real good shot all the way up and down. (Try to find a can that lists the ingredients as = silicone, propellant. W/O "petroleum distillates" =oil) ) Esp. if you've got the panel off...

You might lube the cable too with synthetic grease where it wraps around the pivots. I did the above and they scream -never took the motors apart since this did the trick.

Motors usually fail when they work too hard for too long.

Would WD 40 count?

Nope. I try to find the silicone with the least amount of ingredients, usually oil and plastic/rubber don't do well together for long.

While I realize that silicone is a petroleum derivative, if the can says it I don't buy it. The best stuff just says: silicone, propellant... or silicone, propane.

I also discovered that if the window sticks in the top channel at all, it can lead to a broken regulator assembly. I rubbed pure silicone grease all along the top channel with my finger, then wiped it with a rag to remove the excess and keep the grease from getting all over the place. (Like on your shirt/arm/jacket when you hand over the money for some greezy fast food)

good suggestion, but the lube didn't cure. goes down real sweet and smooth [like a new car]. going up is labor, but pretty uniform [doesn't change speed in certain spots].

When window goes up, do you hear change in motor pitch (sound)? From looks of it it is a cable system(FSM Y33). So, it is possible that there is wear on cables/guides. Try adjusting guide rail. I know it is major PITA to do such work, but you will get rewarded with good results!I know from Chrysler experience when cables get fryed it will caues slow/inop situation!Hope it helps!

Sounds like the up side of the switch is dirty/burnt to me then. Did you amprobe the circuit??

I took apart the window motor in my Jeep and clocked it wrong, and now the switch works opposite. but that one was slow both ways.

You can take the motor apart, but make sure you don't turn the square gear head (attached to the motor) otherwise it won't line up when you're trying to re-attach the two...you can't rotate the other piece to match because it is a worm gear and you would need God's biceps to turn a worm gear at a right angle.
