Cleaning the EX35

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Needing advice on how to clean the touch screen Navigation screen. I love it and have been touching it alot and so now it has fingerprints all over it that I would like to clean off. Not sure what to use.

Also soliciting advice on whether I should run my car through a regular touchless car wash or what is best in that regard. There's a neighborhood guy who used to clean my old car but not sure what he uses as the cleaning solution. Is there something that I should make sure he uses or doesn't use if I go to him? Thanks!

I use optical cleaning solution like they sell in places where you get glasses. I found Sears to have the best, streak-free solution of the few I've tried.

For the paper/cloth, you can get scratch-free wipes like Kimwipes EX-L "Delicate Task Wipers." Spray the cleaner on the paper wipe, not the touchscreen and be gentle.

What I would like to know is what everyone likes for wax. The polymer stuff in the orange bottle tends to leave a haze, and regular old paste wax is a bear to buff out. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestions.

BTW how often are you supposed to wax the car?

I just use a good microfiber cloth for the screen and gauge window. dampen and wring out.. then use a dry one for the final wipe. No chemicals and no replacement cost! Works well on the inside windows as well.

I usually wash my car by myself, i work at a dealer so the supplies are prepared....

My car wash interval is every 2 weeks, 2-3 regular wash then I detail inside the car.

I would to go to quarter self wash place than having other people work on mine.

1. Clean wheels/tires with wheel cleaner that is easy to get from Local parts store.

2. I wash/dry car using regular soap/towel.

3. I put spray type liquid wax and spread it with damp towel.

4. Vac. inside of the car, clean screens with windex, armorall the rest.

5. tire wax....the best part, makes my car like new again.

All I use to clean screen (laptop, plasma tv, lcd, etc.) is a wet cloth and wipe it down with a dry cloth as the "FINALE". No chemicals just a good old H2O.

Oops... sorry, kamiguy had said it already....

Hey there.....nice to see another local member on the boards...I'm just a few miles outside of Baltimore.

I try to clean mine once every other week. Any higher end or name brand cleaner/wax is fine for the vehicle. I'd stray from Armor All on the inside....I just use a damp cloth to clean the inside.

I use a leather conditioner every other week as well to keep the seats from cracking.

The exhaust gets polished with chrome cleaner as well.

The interior gets cleaned (vacummed) whenever I go for an oil change....I just let the dealer do that part instead of lugging a vacuum around with me.

Hey.. np, AWGD8, glad to see other people have the same mindset that I do! . I must reinforce the fact it needs to be a good quality microfiber cloth, otherwise little fibres will be left behind on the surface.

kamiguy,

Agree about the microfiber - not only will it clean the screen, but a good dry microfiber cloth will also collect any dust effortlessly on the console, IP, sterring wheel, dash, doors etc. Like you said, has to be good quality. If you can find one that is "ultramicofiber" they are better, as the fibers are smaller. They will also amazingly pick up all the particles and crud that fall into the seat seams with a few wipes - even better than a vacuum! Wipe with pressure along the seams out toward the floor.

Also, try cleaning your screen with a dry cloth - no water. It works just as well, as the ultramicorfibers will grab the skin oil, too.

I keep one in my gove box, and a few times a week give the dash and console a once-over, and the car looks new again every time.

Agreed. Just using a DRY microfiber takes off the fingerprints from the touch screen effortlessly.
