I just took out the SVC butterflies off my S-13 KA24DE manifold. I noticed that there is a lot of carbon in my intake manifold as if it were exhaust. I also noticed that the carbon were NOT from the combustion chamber side of the butterflies but from the air intake side of the manifold.

I used seafoam and a brush which helped remove them at the tip but I need to buy a bottke cleaner to get to the rest. I'm blocking out the EGR tube coming from exhaust.

Before I do all that, does it really help if I clean out the carbon from intake? Is it the same or similar to polishing intake or whatever?

Thanks

Yeah if you're almost there in removing everything else, you might as well go a little farther and make sure everything's clean.

Not really the same as polishing the intake...it's just making sure everything is clean.
