Hi. I am planning to clean my IACV on my redtop but as I was looking at it, it seems that I may need to take off the intake manifold in order to take out two of the screws that are right under two of the runners on the intake manifold. Did everyone have to remove the manifold to clean the IACV? If so, I was just wondering if the intake manifold gasket was a rubber or liquid or metal gasket? If it is a rubber gasket can I reuse the rubber gasket?

Sorry for all the questions but I have never taken the manifold off and was just concerned.

thanks

actually it's kinda like a metal gasket. i reused my several times and it seems to be fine.. just be sure to use copper spray on it and it'll be fine. im not sure about cleaning the IACV but if your gonna do that, clean out the Intake mani also. mine was COVERED with oil and other crap so i soaked it in gasoline over night and completely took it apart and scrubbed it. about 6000+ miles later, my manifold it STILL clean. only thing i notice in there was unburnt gas or maybe a small oil build up? but VERY minimum.

Yeah the intake manifold gaskets could be reused. I did when I took off my intake manifold but, with the IACV, it's better that you replace the gasket. I couldn't find the gasket so I bought some gasket making paper and made the gasket.

Otherwise you can just spray the IACV with carb cleaner. You can do this with the IAVC still attached to the intake manifold, just unscrew the adjuster screw and spray down there.

When you say adjuster screw do you mean the idle adjust screw? I never knew that could come out. Thats the only screw I see.

On a side note, My intake manifold is dirty as hell, so I probrably should clean it anyway..

thanks for all the help guys
