Hey guys.I'm a cheap *** rite now cuz im currently looking for a part time job (im in high school). So I got stuck with using toothpaste lol. It didnt come out as clean as i hoped. Maybe someone can tell me wat im doing wrong. I didnt have wax so i guess that's wat my problem is.

My method:1. First spray water lightly over the headlights. Wipe with paper towel, get dirt off and bug guts.2. Wipe water off with another paper towel3. Apply toothpaste on headlight and spread over headlight4. I used a very light, soft steel wool type of cloth and scrubbed the headlights.5. After scubbing, pressure wash the headlights taking off paste residue.6. Wipe clean with paper towel.

Now the next step i didnt do, because of lack of materials. I'm pretty sure it would come out more whiter, if i had did this step. Because i didnt do this step, the yellowing was still noticable.7. Apply wax of some sort on the headlights.

Now to the pics...

Before

First layer of scrubbing

After

After2

Feedback anyone? Any tips? When i start working, I'm gonna upgrade to the $4 autozone polisher lol. :ylsuper

You can also use Mother's Aluminum Polish. Works wonders.

I've been needing to clean my passenger side headlight for along time but didn't wanna spend 20bucks on a headlight cleaning kit. I wrecked my car so the drivers side has a brand new headlight and passenger is yellowed looks kinda bad. I'm going to give the toothpaste awhirl. thanks for the tips guys

the best way i know to clean headlights is to wetsand them (finish off with 2000 grit) then to put some clear coat on em. worked really well for me on my old mx6. They were just as yellow as those before, then:

As a comparison, the corners are glass.

No offense John Wayne. I was just saying, I wouldn't be surprised if someone out there took a pic off the internet and put it in their sig thinking it was a 240. Ive seen worse in here

What exactly is wetsanding? You just wet the surface and start sanding?

hahah actually those are MAD TYTE 15's. I just bought the car couple weeks ago with the rims (if thats wat u call it). New rims and tires are in the plan of the future lol, but i dont wanna even spend money on $4 autozone cleaners right now haha.

I'm gonna go offroading with my car now...
