I'm new here so I apologize if this question has been asked before.

I was washing my car the other day when I noticed (more so than usual) just how stained with residue my exhaust tips were. I tried looking up methods to clean them, but wasn't satisfied with the suggestions I read. I figured it would be best to ask people who have the same car.

I'm wondering if there's a way to clean them without using 5 different products. In all my searches, the results said "use this, then this, then that, then this." I don't want to eat off the damn things. I just want to get rid of most of the residue.

So can anyone breakdown a simple method/remedy for cleaning these things using one, maybe two products?

Thanks a lot in advance. Looking forward to posting and reading here more.

I sometimes spray metal cleaner on mine and just wipe them with a rag

Stock exhaust tips? I wash my car every week, or every other week so the carbon build up isn't ever really that bad. I don't know why a good degreaser like Mean Green would be all you need to get it, then just maintain it regularly.

i have aftermarket, but i just wash them and then use a metal polish to get the rest of the build up off.

Yeah I didn't clean the car as often as I should have my first year owning it, so there has been some buildup. Thanks for the tips.

I have a stock exhaust on my 3.5 and I had the same problem. For some reason, the passenger side is worse. But, My brother bought a stainless steel cleaner for his grill and ended up selling the grill. I tried it and it worked amazingly! The stains are slowly going away and its easier to clean. I don't know if the 2.5 exhaust is stainless but I know the 3.5 are. I don't know what brand it is, but I'm sure other grill cleaners might work the same.
