I agree with elbow grease. I use brake cleaner for the bad spots on the block and such. Be careful with simple green and other harder chemicals. I use Window Cleaner and cloths.

These are to clean it out just where you see right?what about the gasket covers (or what they are called)?I really need to clean underneath the Spider manifold because the radiator cap it had before didn't seal.I bought a new one though. So let me know i'll be looking for elbow grease i guess.

Just remember isn't sea foam for the engine internals etc?not the bay?

Get a can or two of Gunk engine cleaner at your local auto parts store-about $5 per can or so- it is basically a kerosene type degreaser....spray all over a WARM , not hot engne, use an old paintbrush to scrub nooks & crannies and really dirty spots, close hood and let simmer for 10 minutes then hose off and run car for 30 minutes or so to dry off engine.

Resist the urge to use tire/rubber dressing on the now clean hoses and black plastic items under the hood- while it will make everything pretty and shiny new looking short term, within weeks it will look bad due to the dust/dirt sticking to everything.

Just aim the can of Gunk under there, it sprays a good hard stream.

Just came back irritated from the ****ty *** drive. Trucks need to level their fogs and head lights first of all and 18-wheelers shouldn't speed up when a driver is entering the freeway and is far from them.Just because of them I couldn't see smack and almost ran a Mercedes off the road.Weird.

Anyways back to the subject. So just spray everywhere? What about for the big big chunks? Also any idea how to clean exhaust vapor from differential? Thanks qship96 you the best!!!

Spray everywhere and use an old paintbrush to scrub the heavy dirt areas, then hose off.

The differential can be spray cleaned with brake parts cleaner, again use a brush if needed on really built up dirty spots.Get 2 cans, they are only a few bucks each and clean really well- no need to rinse with water when done as it evaporates quickly . You might want to unscrew top fill plug on your differential and check fluid level to be sure it is full and not leaking if you are seeing a buildup of oily dirt on differential -

Yep, spray the crap out of it with degreaser and hit it with a brush. Just like anything else, you only get out what you put in.

I've tried two types of degrease and nothing happened. If you look at my engine now it's super clean but not the part or as i want it.Today i put in my old hood struts that for some reason were still very good.My hood was open for like 1hr 30minutes or maybe less and everybody who saw was like DAMN what a clean *** engine.

Oh peep this for people selling parts i maybe need the things that bolt into the firewall and clip on the struts. So if anybody got them send them my way asap>A fair low price would be best or at least until i get more money.

I find that elbow grease is enhanced when combined in moderation with the following substances:

1) Beer2) Bourbon3) Scotch4) Cigar

If you can't find that clip just get a skyhook, it'll work fine.
