cleaning AIV??

I've done a long search and just found out how to remove the enitre system. I'd like to keep it. Can anyone provide me wif instructions on how to open the AIV valve box thingy and how and what to use to clean it? I hear u hafta clean the reeds....wut do these look like. Pictures would be great!! :)
