Since Sean suggested this I've been interested in it. Where do you get this oil and the process to do it? Also what about this purple oil you told me about?

This is how you clean and re-oil them.

There is no purple oil. The JWT oil is blue. But, since your filters are red, if you re-oil with blue...it may come out purple.

To get the purple color, get the JWT oil and the K&N filter oil and mix...

Or just get Royal Purple...

To clean mine, I've always used Shout! and a spray can of oil that came with my filter. However, I want to move to a better way of applying the oil with a bottle of oil and an applicator.

Royal Purple doesn't sell filter oil...to my knowledge. Not sure if you can just use regular engine oil.

I'm pretty sure it was a joke.

My dirty air filters are no joke. I have to change mine every 10k miles as it gets pretty dirty. The prevailing winds blow west to east so most of the dirt in the air from the west seems to land and deposit itself in New Jersey.

Rerouting $$$ for the 401k for air filters

You could always buy reusable filters. 1 disposable for "drying time" and a reusable for the life of the car.

telco, looks like the wind blows across your car from west to east as well. Point the nose to the east and you could hit 30 MPG! Just think of it...

Cleaning and re-oiling my K&N was such a PITA. Letting it sit out to dry, making sure to oil enough but not over oil, making sure when I started I had enough oil or cleaning solution.

+1 AEM Dry-flow

The K&N re-charge kits are available at the local stores. Never seen the JWT ones anywhere but online.

NOOOOOOOOO

DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT

Oil a Fujita filter!!!!!!!!

The proper way to clean them is submerse them in a bucket with liquid dish soap and warm water for a few hours. I do it overnight.

Hose them out with the garden hose lightly you don't want to tear them or use any water pressure at all.

Let them dry fully and reinstall.

If you oil them your IAT sensor will be F*cked!!!

+1 for what gwoods said. You can use any cleaner that you can take oil out of fabric with, so that could be dish soap or stain removers like Shout! or 409. I'll spray mine down with Shout! and let it sit for 10 minutes or so and run it under low pressure water and repeat the process. I'll let it dry over night and apply the oil the next day.

There is no purple oil, the Royal Purple was a joke.

I think Jeff is saying that Fujita filter ARE NOT OILED.

There are two basic types of aftermarket filters.

Cotton gauze with metal mesh. K&N, JWT, all the knock-offs.

Synthetic Fiber- AEM and apperently Fujita. These don't have the metal mesh and only need cleaning. NO OIL!!!

Yikes...I didn't realize his filters didn't require oil.

So in that case...scratch my idea.

Or get 2 JWT filters and a K&N filtercharger kit. Spray the K&N oil to get the purple color.

Ah, yes the Fujita filters are of a synthetic fiber in which they don't need oiling. So finding an oil would be a bad idea--you're stuck with that color with that intake. But to clean them, follow what gwoods said, just don't reoil.
