Hey guys just wondering what else everyone has done to get a clean looking install without cutting up the dash (for on top of the dash not in the vents) Ive toyed around with the notion of running the cord thru the window vent but wouldnt it get too hot for the wires? Thx, pics welcome :)

IMO, there is no clean way ON dash.

I think the din slot under radio is the best out of the way place. or center vent( some people rally like to keep this vent for AC.)

How many gauges and what are they? There are a few good spots to mount them in the s13.

Or you could try to mold a gauge holder onto the dash over center vent. ( I wouldn't)

There are slots in the middle so air still comes out.
The din slot is a good place if you do it right and dont just wedge them in there...

Zach, mine didn't come with tabs on the back like a lot of them did, but it seems you have the one like mine. What did you do to make it stay put for driving, but still removable so you can mess with wires if needed?

Thanks... I put my wires in with the fuses for positive and ignition. I then put my grounds to a bolt holding the dead pedal. I just haven't figured out how to make the damn vent pod stay put. I am curious as to how you'll do ALL of yours though, so I'll be watching your build thread for an update. :)

yeah i kno ive kinda been racking my brain as well, i dont do things half assed, if its only gunna look ok then theres no point in doint it imo. The gauges are Stri and theres fuel press, egt and boost. DIN would be an alright spot but kinda redundant since ud need to look down to check out whats going on (plus i doubt u could fit three 52mm) Im thinking just two sided tape and running the wires and hose thru loom to the right and down the side of console.

like that but then wires on the otherside. i doubt theres much else that can be done haha (dont worry about the cracks, that dash has been replaced :) )

I think the pods themselves are ugly... I like things to flow together. At least a little bit, anyway.

I have always wanted to mold gauges into the vent holes in the gauge bezel.....
Or if you have the time...

^^Kinda beat me to the suggestion^^

But still that square in the dash doesn't look good. The 3 gauges behind the vent is kinda sweet.

Your car is RHD? silvia K's NM

You could try using one of these and mold it to the dash, but have know idea how to get it to look stock.

Functional yes, but doesn't flow at all though.
And yeah the square in the dash is dumb, but I love the vent covered gauges...

although it obviously requires a replacement dash, I think this is the best I've ever seen.

That's awesome, but I don't even want to imagine the costs of getting someone to make a dash like that..

yeah thats a really sharp looking job, but i have nor the desire or money to do a project like that (2J swap done properly is already more than i can chew), i bet that guy/company dropped more than a grand on just getting the dash looking like that. nvm the guages and everything else. A bit overkill imo.

Something else id like to point out is, if your going to do a 2J swap like that why would u go VVTI , its like an RB25 NEO... but anyways. Thx for the suggestions guys, im gunna run the wires pretty simply and make that look as perfect as i can. Simple =better? perhaps more than trying some ridiculous project and end up having it look like something out a honda tuning mag lol?? :gotme

edit. shadow that dash is coming along nicely bro, keep up the work and post some pics when u get it all finito.
