Did some detailing under the hood today - cleaned up all the hand prints from the intake and grounding kit install and removed the general grime. Then thought I'd snap a couple of pictures to show the handy work.

Anyone else take the time to clean under the hood?

Very nice!! Yeah, I'm in line behind zozo!

Oh, and yes, I clean all of my engines, but they don't turn out that pretty!

Really looks good spacy9. What products did you use to clean under the hood?

Thanks, Hal

Looks great.

What is that yellow and orange sticker? Is that something that you could make a temporary black cover for?

Sorry....I told y'all I was anal.

Hmm... they do kind of ruin the symmetry, don't they?

Sorry, I didn't answer sooner. Here is what I did.

1) Washed everything down with a damp rag and car wash soap. This probably took the longest, getting into all of the cracks and around all of the hoses.

2) Went over everything again with just a damp rag - to get all of the soap off.

3) I actually waxed the painted pieces with normal car wax.

4) I used "303 Aerospace Protectant" on the hoses and anything that wasn't black plastic.

5) I used "BLACKFIRE One Step, Plastic Cleaner, Polish & Glaze" for the black plastic pieces.

I loosely followed the directions here:

http://www.properautocare.com/prencl.html

But I didn't spray water directly into the engine, a nice damp rag is good enough for me

I met a couple at a car show one time. They had a C4 Corvette. (That is the body style where the whole front cap opens up). Well....he took it to a coin car wash and sprayed the engine with the high pressure wash. He did $2500 damage to the engine. It had to be towed to the dealership.
