the "drive-by-wire TBs" on the newer Ms and Qs have very sensitive actuators and sensors that can be damaged so TB cleaning is NOT RECOMMENDED.
Perfect thanks, took the car out at lunch time and the idles settled about 650 to 700 rpm, all looks normal, but thanks for the quick responses...........uh2 wrote:I believe it is 650 RPM +/- 50. This is at normal operating temperature..no additional load on the engine (lights, AC, etc).
I hope the idle is the least of your issues....cleaning the throttle body can lead to its replacement. I just had mine replaced after a cleaning by a dealer. After the cleaning, I noticed the idle was extremely high so I performed the idle learning procedure. It worked, but after that the car would throw codes and go into limp mode.
Good luck.
Did not use any chemicals worked a microfiber cloth into the front and back of the throttle body and just rubbed the surfaces. I did push the butterfly valve a few times. I will note that I did remove the tb from the intake, unplugged the connection.cruzad3r wrote:what is the "idle learning procedure" and how can one do this? Since you posted you did this yourself, can you share the knowledge?
Also, what chemical did you use to clean your Throttle Body? The number one issue of killing your TB is when you actually touch the butterfly valve, not cleaning it.
