So, I cleaned the throttle body of my 2004 G35X sedan and got a trouble code of PO507. I realize now that I should have never cleaned the TB in the first place. Can my TB be saved or do I have to shell out around $500 for a new one from Infiniti? I searched on the forums and found conflicting answers. Some say to bite the bullet and replace while others say all I need to do is perform an Idle Air Volume Learning Procedure. I deeply regret my mistake but I certainly don't wish for it to be too costly a one. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You have 1 hope. Take it to your Infiniti dealership and tell them what you did. Ask them to quick learn the idle.

If the idle does not quick learn you are looking at a ECU and or Throttle body.

if your TB won't relearn idle air volume...and you don't need to go to the dealership to relearn...then you should check out http://www.rockauto.com

You can get a remanufactured TB which will work or else they will replace it.

save you an extra $400.

1) Drive the car to "warm up" temperature. Make sure your idle is close to 700 rpm.2) Ensure any battery draining devices are off. Ie. headlights, interior dome lights, HVAC, stereo.3) Turn the car ignition key to "OFF"4) Wait ten seconds5) Turn the key to "ON" (not start)6) Wait three seconds.7) Perform the following five times in five seconds or less. Fully press the gas pedal and release.8) Wait seven seconds from last of the five releases.9) Fully press the gas pedal and hold down. Within ten seconds the "Service Engine Soon" light should begin to blink.10) Wait another ten seconds (while still holding the gas pedal) and the "Service Engine Soon" light should stop blinking.11) As soon as it stops blinking, release the pedal, start the car and check the idle (should still be around 700 rpm)12) Let the car idle at 700 rpm or so for about 25 seconds, rev the engine a few times and then let it return to idle.13) Shut the car down.

For me it was cold outside when I did the relearn procedure and it took over a minute to relearn. Be patient.

doesn't always work.

Even the relearn at the dealership doesn't always work.

I have a NEW ECU and 2 NEW throttle bodies that is all I have to say about that.

After the dealer cleaned my throttle body and replaced the plugs, the service engine light came on as I drove away. I went right back and they turned the light off. It has not come back on after 1600 miles

I also have one of these. They are not expensive

I know. I couldn't get mine to relearn idle air after I cleaned it. I had to buy a remanned one from rockauto.com. That one came and didnt learn idle either. I sent it back and they sent me another one that did work. $90 to get one from them. Looks like right now you can pick up one for $70 ish.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I did have to replace the TB and gasket and preform an Idle Air Volume relearn. Anywho, long story short, don't clean your TB unless you carefully remove the butterfly valve. Also, yes Telsoman, Grandma's is still open and serving up great food and cold beers.

NO!!!Never, NEVER touch or move the throttle plate. It is super sensitive.clean with a cotton swab or something AROUND it, but never move the throttle plate for any reason. The sensitivity is absurd, and it can ruin it. Its happened a LOT.

Yes yes yes yes yes

On my Hemi Ram which was also drive by wire I used to hold the throttle plate open and clean it every oil change. I had a KN style air filter back then and probably was a little generous on the oil.

Why didn't Infiniti design a cleaning signal that opens up the valve for cleaning?

Because they didn't want it played with. In our technical manuals it tells us to never play with it. The motor in it is super sensitive. Also, you can unbolt it and clean the port to the plenum and the area around the butterfly valve, so theres no need to move it unless you wanted to clean every single crevase...

It has been reported by many people that it is caused by moving the throttle plate...many also have had no issues IF they DISCONNECT the battery and then UNPLUG the TB connection.

As for me, I won't make that mistake again. If anything you can unscrew the butterfly valve and clean the whole area.

One guy removed and fully polished and painted his TB, put it back together with no issues.

well if you go through the trouble of disconnecting and all that, the electrical signals on cycle are nonexistent so you could probably get away with it... But I don't think I would go through all that...

well, disconnecting battery takes 2 min, and unplugging the TB connector only takes a few sec. Not that much hassle for the added precaution if you do in fact clean your TB.
