I've got a '90 240 with a DOHC. It runs like a champ but this idle problem is kicking my a$$.Before, my idle would dip down when I pressed the brakes. So I read an article on cleaning the IACV, and I did it. Bolted it back up, now I have a ton more problems.-Idle stays high, about 2000RPMs after i push in the clutch and coast. Then goes down after a while to about 900.-It's very shakey, it sounds like it's stumbling and not running right when at semi normal idle (900)-And the weirdest part, when sitting at idle I lightly press the gas and slowly climb to 2500RPMs. Once it gets to 2500 it cuts out to like 1000, and it will just keep cycling like that if I don't let off the gas. It's totally normal when I'm driving or I press the gas any harder.-It runs totally perfect other than idle.

So let me know if you have any suggestions. Sorry for another 240 idle post:slap

Well yeah, all of that is connected. The IACV unit has the idle screw attached.

you may need to adjust it, warm up the car shut it off, unplug the TPS sensor. then turn on the car and adjust the idle screw on the iacv til you have the car idle around the 750+/- 50rpm or so ,then shut the car off plug back in the TPS and take for a drive,if not also check for vacuum leaks that happen to me once you never know, i bet its something really stupid that is being over look, good luck ..cheers
