Just sharing some pics of my engine bay after I degreased and pressure washed it. Sorry I can't post them all in a single post (my FTP is acting dumb). Anyways, tell me what you think because it won't be that color anymore at the end of the month!!!1st pic is of it when it was dirty...... (my car only has 41,000 original miles on it and I put 40,975 of them)

The blue on the valve cover is darker than what the picture depicts....

that looks sweet. i wish i would have spent more time on my engine bay when i had my engine out. all i did was hit it with a degreaser once, and washed it off with a hose. but oh well. if i had a dohc engine i would paint the valve cover red or something.

XCrunner19420: Dont know if your replying about the valve cover paint, but I just used some High Temp paint from the local auto store. Sanded the whole down to metal, then applied about 4 coats of High Temp Primer, then 4 coats of the Blue and then 4 coats of the High Temp Clear. I still need to wet sand and buff it, but it turned out fairly good I would say.

180fan: I used Castrol Super Clean (Purple bottle and can be bought at Wal-Mart for $5 for a gallon). I used about a 2:1 ratio of it and had a small brush. Only needed one application for most of the motor (I drenched the motor with the Castrol though) and scrub what I could. Then used a pressure washer to get everything else out. That Castrol is the ever!! Better than Simple Green!!! Highly recommend it to everyone. I should be painting the bay sometime before the end of the month so I'll be posting pics of that process as well.

castrol is good on wheels, you just have to wash them with a mild detergent afterwards to stop the corrosive effects

Very nice. How much prep did you have to do for powerwashing? Did you leave everything in that is shown in the picture? Or did you cover some stuff up?

All I did for prep was put a plastic bag over the fuse box and anything else electrical and also plug all the open hoses. I just put a bolt in the hole and wrapped it with electrical tape. And that was basically it.Oh yeah, Do not use Castrol on Chrome!!!! My Brother-In-Law has a '71 Mach 1 and used it on his Chrome Valve Cover.......not good!! He spent 3 hours repolishing it. But other than that, you can use it on almost anything else. I'll be updating the pics when I begin to paint the engine bay. So look out for updated pics...... I may just start a new thread(?)
