So, I claybarred my car for the first time ever (almost 3 years!) what a difference!! I also got the Sentra hubcaps and lugnuts... It looks like a whole new car! Let me know what you think!

I still want to lower it and get a 2010 grille, then maybe if I have some extra money just get a new set of rims, but keep them 15's. With the Sentra hubcaps, the wheels look like a decent size now, i would imaging that would be the same for rims!

Those rims look really good on the V. I might have to check around some junkyards around here... What year and trim package Sentra did those come off of?

Thanks! they really make a huge difference. I got them off ebay for about $50 bucks. They were a little beat up, but you only notice if you are right there looking at them. They came off the new model sentra, whichever one has the 15" wheels. If you get these, you need to get a set of lugnuts from the sentra as well, because they are held on by a lip thats part of the nut.

don't you just love the way the paint looks and feels on a freshly clayed car? when i had my B15 sentra, i was pretty regular on the forum there (www.b15sentra.net) and some of those guys are real hardcore about detailing.

learned about claying- whether to use the (usually) included spray detailer or distilled water. claying vs cleaner wax- which is better at removing overspray and imperfections.the benefits of using multiple stages of finishing products- carnuba wax, followed by a synthetic polish, then occasionally topped or touched up with a spray detailer.

anyhow, all very time consuming. but if you get through doing a full paint protection process, the before and after is incredible, especially with your black paint.

i'm really digging the wheel covers too. just to change it up a little, pop out the emblems, give the covers a couple coats of gunmetal/graphite gray followed by a few more coats of clear, then pop the emblems back on. i think the color and the extra clear coat will make 'em really stand out, combined with the style of those covers, they'd have much more of a "rim appearance"

gtrisfun & superskunk,

I'd love to have a write-up on the various processes of claybar and such. Do you guys have time to write up the best way to do the items for our new tech section?

yeah, i love how deep of a color it has, we claybarred, waxed, and detail sprayed. it was beautiful. Of course it rained two days later. Gotta love maryland weather. The only problem I have with painting the hubcaps is that i KNOW they will get chipped very easily... But i do plan on painting the actual Hub, just cause it is really faded and has some surface rust.

try using a plastic primer or paint, then spray your color coats over it. seems to stick on better than using regular spray paints, i've had a set done this way with my previous car last over a year without chipping (though i did hafta touch-up due to curbing). since you"ll have the covers off to paint the wheels, you might as well give it a try!

i'd be glad to do a write-up for the how-to. lemme know when and where to post it.

the paint on the Versa is far more durable than that of my previous car.B15 sentra owners would always gripe about how the paint scratches soeasily. i swear, you look at the car too hard, it'll get a scratch.
