WOW,

I detailed my G starting yesterday. It is spotless now!

Washed it 3 times with turtle wax ICE washclay bar the whole car with a Mothers clay bar kitwax the car with mothers cleaning waxwax the car with turtle wax ICE waxClean interiortreat leatherdress tires and wax wheels

The whole process took maybe 4 hours?

I have never clay bar'ed a car before. My wife backed into my G a couple weeks ago and did some paint damage. The clay bar removed all the paint from her car. It made the paint so smooth I went ahead and did the entire car. If you have never used a clay bar on your G I recommend trying it! My paint is slippery smooth now and I think the car looks shinier?

I still have a small spot on my passenger side front bumper where it joins the front fender that is missing a quarter size spot of paint down to the plastic

Anyone used touch up paint on their G?

Jeff

You did all that by hand in 4 hours or do you have an automatic buffer?

mothers products are great too!...

Mothers Clay Bar saved the paint on my Lexus....

I parked it at some ones house..

The house next door was getting painted white (black lexus)

My car look like it was grey... More white paint was visible than Black.

The clay bar removed all the white paint. even off rubber and glass!

I'm 29 and in pretty good shape

I did the washing, drying and interior cleaning in about an hour new years eve. I also built a 4'x2'x2' toy box for my son out of birtch between washings.

Then yesterday afternoon I went out and clay bar'ed the car then waxed it. Before I started using the clay bar I soaked the leather in treatment and left it on while I clay bar'ed and waxed.

I use turtle wax ICE liquid wax. It is AWESOME. You put it on with a supplied sponge. Let it sit for 5 min and then wipe the car with a supplied micro fiber towel.

Cool! I use ICE wax and ICE wash but I passed on the ICE claybar cause it was liquid and I thought it might be the same as a cleaner wax?

I'm basically lazy. I've found a guy that works for a detailer and is willing to do all that on a Saturday, $120.00 for 2 cars. I haven't done it yet on my G, but once it turns 6 mts old, it too will get the treatment.

He does another thing that is really trick. He uses some kind of metal scrubber thing (like you used on pots and pans) that he cleans the window exteriors with. They are really clean and smooth when he is done.

Sweet! Make sure you wait until spring as warmer temps will reduce the time spent to dry the polish. This is how I did mine:

Wash car with dishsoapWash car with Zaino, towel dry with 100% cotten towelClay car with Zaino car wash as a lubeWash car with Zaino, dryApply zaino with ZFX accelerator.I did 3 coats, using Z6 in-between

8 L O N G hours of work

I'll pass the only way I spend 8 hours doing anything is if I get a check at the end LOL

I'm not crazy into car detailing but I do like my car to be clean and I'm also cheap, so the Turtle Wax ICE really appeals to me. It does an okay job and it is fast to use.

$120 for 2 cars is a steal. Make sure they guy gives the car back to you LOL. Steel wool on the exterior glass?? HU that is interesting. I always WAX my windows and my wheels.

I have a car duster that I wipe my car down with for the first week between wash/wax but the second week I just kind of let it go.

I was going to do that today, too - but it's too damn cold right now.

I'll wait for the weekend when it's supposed to warm up!

here is the spot that is missing paint and down to the plastic on the front bumper. There was A LOT of blue paint on the fender and bumper but the clay bar took it up.

Heres the car after I used the clay bar on it....

It's 20 degrees here but my car is clean and under a car cover! I washed and clayed it a few days ago for a G35 meet when it was about 50 degrees. I clay my car all the time, but I have white so you see every thing. Especially in the spring i get these orange spots, very tiny like a pencil point (some even smaller) but unacceptable nonetheless. I haven't used steel wool on the windows of my G but i've used it on other cars (i used to be a detailer) but i also wax my windows as well.

trust me, youve seen nothing yet. I am a detailer for my second shift with ford everyday. Was also a detailer for Jaguar and Exotics for nine months. I took an Acura TL that was washed a recorded 4 times since 1999. last time in 2004 (lady was some kind of freak with recording everything that happened to the car, she kept most of the gas receipts too...weird) the paint was almost so filthy the car looked like it had seperated panels on it. I used the stuff we have at work, the car sold today and i detailed it last friday and had it sit in the shop till yesterday. Only 37k miles were on it though, guy swore it was garaged. good buy.

If you really wanna know what was used on the car just ask, i dont feel like listing the whole process for ****s and giggles.

Cheap... and the degreaser in the dish soap gets sap, bugs and oils off really well.... You just have to re wax the car after!
