Will a clay bar get wax residue out of chips and scratches?

I have leftover white residue from using cleaner wax or 3M hand glaze in the past. Car is charcoal grey and paint is far from perfect, but just looking to use carnuba wax only from now on (probably Meguiars, maybe Blitz wax if I can find it).

I've tried the toothbrush thing in the past without much luck (scratched it once using the wrong type of toothbrush).

I would use a pressure washer... you wont have to like pound it with pressure, just like you were going to rinse it off....

Clay bar would probably make the residue worse...

Pressure washing paint on a car this old is very dangerous, the car-wash types are relatively low-pressure, but the hand type can blow the paint right off by getting under the paint. (funny on trucks , sad on a Q-car )

Best thing to do is use medium dry enamel reducer, and plenty of rags since it will load 'em up quick with wax gunk (you'll see). To do the whole car before clay barring -make a rag wet with the above and do one-foot squares until the paint is squeaky clean, not smeary with wax.

Medium reducer will eat /soften the wax build-up in stone chips too -just put some on the chip and let it sit for a half a minute or so to soak into the wax, then carefully brush it with a soft and used toothbrush. You might have to do this more than once on some stubborn wax-filled chips where it's really built up and dried in there.Good time to fillin the chips with some touchup since it'll stick now.

Yes I know there are a lot of square feet to do, but after you clay bar it and wax it you'll think it was new.

EDIT: Happy NICO Anniversary to me last week.

Not too good for new cars either! I saw someone on another board dedicated to the G35 with a bumper that got owned by their pressure washer.

My neighbor washes his Mercedes with one - but I wouldn't dare! He has an old GM truck that literally has lines in it from pressure washing!

yeah the hand pressure washers are dangerous, took a chip out of the paint on the galant about the size of a quarter on a trim piece. they work great on fences though! it might just take a good amount of patience and hand work
