I think it's the different companies way of saying the same thing, that the clay isn't your standard terra cota type.

AZHitman's done a good bit of clay & Zaino on Quella, I'm sure he'll weigh in soon.

Any clay bar will do - Save some cash and buy whatever's at the local auto store. Wash beforehand with DAWN dishsoap, no other.

AFTER the clay bar, I recommend NOTHING but the best - Stick with something like 5Start (available through the ad at left) or Zaino (buy online). Anything less is JUST wax (and other crap you don't want on your new ride).

I highly recommend using the 5-Star. I bought the delux package which came with a clay bar and the 5-Star product and a few other things. The clay bar worked fine that it came with. But after clay barring, I would defintely recommend throwing on some 5-Star. I have had mine on several months now and the winter has gotten my car really dirty several times and all I have to do is spray it down with some water and wipe it dry and it looks like I just waxed it.

Most clay bars are identical in performance. I like the Zaino Z-18, because they give you two bars for essentially the same price as everybody else's single bar.

I have tried both the Zaino and the 5 Star recently (Zaino on two cars and 5 Star on one) and will write up a detailed comparison sometime in the near future!

I'll be interested in reading your comparison. I really want to know how they compare. I've only used the 5-star.

Thank you to everybody...I now know that for the most part all clay bars are created equal....Now for this wax thing...boy are there so many choices...I was thinking of doing that zaino process but they do not ship to me in N.J. I have found a source...so I will have to see...Also found a site for wax medium which is Malms.com....Used their products years ago and the stuff was really great...but with pinnacle / blackfire/zaino/zymol to name a few who knows which is best???? I guess process of elimination and time will be my partners....for now thanks again...this is a great site...2old4this

Just stay away from anything you can buy at PpeBoys etc and you'll be fine.

Zymol is not in the same class as Zaino / 5Star, as it is not a paint sealant but a polish/wax. Won't last 6 months like the synthetics, and won't give you the ability to wash your car using water only (and dry using the throttle:))

Wax is so 80's.

Ryan... Has the 5 star been holding up nicely.... I used some IMPERIAL PASTE WAX last time , and works nicely, a good winter wax to keep the icky stuff off... Definitely not as good as the 5 star or Zaino, but its good..

I want to try the 5 star and probably will this spring (right before the meet, hint hint!!!)

Wes, the 5-star has been doing really well. I just take it to the self car wash and use the power sprayer and it washes everything off. I don't have to touch the car to get the dirt and road salt off. I usually do take a microfiber wash mit and wipe it down though if I have time. Then I just dry it with a microfiber towel. It looks like it's just been waxed. I highly recommend it.
