So I have been lurking for a while. Only posted because I had a nerve racking issue with my 240. but nonetheless this is gonna be my Build thread. It will be loaded with pics once i upload them but lets start with some specs.

I work at a shop so when I have free time between customers and evenings off I get to work away at my little project. I'm building it to be a drift car like everyone else LOL. But its just for my own personal gain cuz i love to have fun and drive hard. Hopefully my thread will help someone with their build or even inspire someone else to do something awesome. PICS to come.

Oh yeah by the way I have become pretty handy with some stuff since I've been at this shop. If you're local (Baltimore County Region) I will gladly help anyone out. Here's a video of me stretching some tires.

Ok so let start with some pics from the beginning:
Here's a pic of the car when i first got it completely stock but kinda rough around the edges. the PO took the radio speakers and left me with these 5 star 16s and chipped/faded paint
Image

SO i rode around like that for a while and then I got my VLSD and some axles from a friend of a friend. and installed that. I can't find any pic of it but its in there. Next was a suspension upgrade after i got tags for it.

Main reason for rushing suspension is because after the LSD was in the car handled like crap. and i was getting the hang of drifting but it wasn't good it was meh. here's a video my girl took of me just sliding around in the parking lot a bit.

Ok so after the loose and wild drifts with lack of body control i said what the hell and went to try out the EMUSA coilovers. I did my research and found out they are basically Megan Racing knock-offs with out dampening controls. So considering how cheap they are and how I'm building on a budget (i will upgrade later) I got them and they ride pretty nice. They get pretty low and have a decent spring rate. Plus I have been drifting on them and they don't suck. they give me a nee balance of control with out too much body roll. only criticism I have is they are kinda bouncy in the rear n the front one passenger side clunks sometimes. kinda annoying. here are pics:

Note these are not spun all the way down either.

oh yea before i get too far ahead I did make a custom exhaust. I'm learning to perfect my welding skills so i went ahead and made a straight pipe cat back exhaust. its gets a little pingy and cheap honda exhaust like at time but i like it and it will due for now until i do my swap. here's a video clip of that

Thanks there are more to come. I'm a film/cinematic arts major at UMBC so i always got a camera with me. matter of fact here's one you may get a good laugh out of. Me and my buddy where drifting in the snow and i ran up a curb and hit a tree. haha but the car was perfectly fine. a lil dark but if you listen to what we are saying you could enjoy it.

we both are crazy about drifting. and are doing similar builds except he's got an E30. here's a video of his car doing some stuff. please excuse the first 0:57sec of horrible camera angles i couldn't tell what i was filming.

now these Circuit sport tie rod ends advertise to give your car an extended turn radius...im not so sure about this yet but they have a spacer in them to "assist" with this. here is a closeup of that spacer with the tie rod installed.

and the finished product.

oh and when it comes to the brembos. the front uses a bracket. i had to sand down the back of the caliper
Image

and then i can fit the bracket on the back
Image

And after i put the five lug conversion on i can put it all together

Just a word of advise of caution...on the Circuit Sport tie rod ends don't use that ring in there. i don't know what it is meant for but it made aligning my car impossible. I have finished my brake and 5 lug conversion and now i'm just working on getting the car fitted how i rly want it. i'll add some pics later. but for now here's a cool video my buddy took of the car the night i brought it home

haven't been on here a few months super busy. Now as for an official update some things have changed for the better.
- first off i blew my clutch trynna do a burnout *facepalm* so i upgraded to a stage 2 clutch with a lightweight flywheel all from XTD. pretty decent so far. of course not top of the line but its nice enough for me.
- also no more Circuit Sport tie rod ends. they were nice at first but then one outer tie rod snapped. it was a clean break right at the pillow ball joint to the rod that connected to the adjustable section. so i just removed em both. back to OEM parts.
- aslo drifted into a curb, bent my control and broke my caster arm. so i replaced the control arm and I'm waiting to install the caster arm. I already have the new parts just no time to install. I must admit i have had no issues with GodSpeed Parts so i will continue to use them and my Emusa Coilovers, I know people think they are junk but I love em
- other than that i got the stance i want and my car is very functional at its ridiculously low height.
- i plan on finishing my roof rack soon, once i get more parts and i have a new FPR to install that i hope will fix my weird idling issue. and now for a few pics

Stretched tires... :inout: tell me what exactly is the point of spending over a G on brakes if you don't have the contact patch to make use of the extra stopping power in the first place? Oh well, whatever blows your skirt up doll face...

LOL. I'm sorry but that made me laugh because I spent under a G on my brakes because I know how to shop for quality parts at a very low price between using my contacts and my brain. AND as for stretched tires I run them because I'm into the whole fitment seen. Your contact patch isn't going to be effected too much when it comes to stretch tires. when you stretch a tire (with the slight stretch I have anyway) it actually gets more wear out of the tires because it pulls the entire tread pattern out to meet the ground. I still get more of a contact patch than people running stock wheel and trust when i slam that brake pedal and push all 12 of those Brembo pistons down it stops on a dime. Most peoples contact paths are affected by their amount of camber they run. my camber isn't retarded so when i'm rolling thru corners and the suspension moves with weight shifts i get that tire on the ground. Now i have done a burnout and saw that i was only contacting about 2/3rds of the rear tires but its a totally different story when drifting. But nonetheless at the end of the day its always to each its own. i love stretching tires and the look of them

Well you have very good contacts indeed if you could get a full set of EVO bembos for under 1K. and as far as contact patch I was talking about running a 205 tire on a rim that was designed for a 275. The difference in contact patch is enormous. And with brakes you can have all the clamping force you want, but if you don't have the tire to make the use of it, its no better than having stock brakes. But hey at least they look cool. Like you said to each their own...

not trynna keep this going forever but i just want to point out something. the stock evo8/9 came with 17*8 with a 235/45/17. I'm running a 17*9 up front with a 205/40/17. i don't think that rim was designed for a 275, thats a bit overkill. and 205 vs 235 yes is still a huge gap but considering the brake to weight ratio of a 92 240coupe vs a Evo 8/9 I would say as long as i keep fresh rubbers up front I haven't lost any braking power by having that smaller tire. and yea they do look very cool but same as i was telling a friend of mine with a bug eye wry who is about to buy coil overs for the first time though coil overs (or in this case BBKs) can help with appearance ultimately its all for the purpose of a more reliable performance. I personally can testify to that because 2 weeks before i got my Brembos i had a car slam on brakes in front of me in the rain. at the time i was running 16 with a 205/50/16 and when i slammed on brakes i slid about 20 ft right underneath the car who stopped abruptly. Last month same situation happened and I had to rely on my brakes and tires to slow me down fast enough without locking up and sliding given i don't have ABS. lets just say i didn't hit that car or get close by a long shot. def getting my true performance use out of these brakes. what kind of setup do you have on your car since your so opposed to stretched tires?

I understand the whole lowered stance stretched tires thing, you can't get a car that low if you have a big tire in the way, I get it. But it just makes no sense to me to want to have a big heavy wide rim and then have to sacrifice tire width in order to fit it. And I was assuming those 526's were 10" wide, which is just about perfect for a properly fitted 275. My setup is just about the polar opposite of yours. 17x7 in the front with a 225 and 17x8 in the rear with a 245 and Z32 front brakes. Worked very well on my old S13, haven't turned a wheel in anger with the S14 yet.

HAHA thats funny. I actually searched u out (stalker! lol) but i found you build thread VERY impressive. for now i don't track this car and it is my daily driver (trynna sell my other car tired of car payments) but if/when i do hit up any drift events i have a set of 17 steelies from a ford explorer (17*7.5) with 215/45s to run on em. only thing that would clear the brakes haha

Thanks for the props man, hope to have the old problem child up and running for the summer, but who knows? Your S13 is definitely sexy, if not my style. Good luck with your future projects, and feel free to hit me up if you need advice about something that grips around a corner ;)

I do agree with SX APPEAL with the tire thing, but when I was reading it I was thinking "well here goes this thread...." I was surprised to see that you didn't get all pissy and scream at everyone :rotfl

Take moar pics! This is like the first time I'm seeing 526's on a proper street car
