I've been digging through pretty much all the posts in this forum to learn more about the EX, and have come across a fair number of posts re: tire wear on the EX.
Keep in mind, I am coming from a 250hp all-wheel-drive Subaru Outback which (as a brand) is known to go through its share of tires--due mostly to:
A. a factory alignment specs which include a fair amount of positive camber all-around
B. the fact that the Outback's suspension is not designed with any kind of "sport" capabilities in mind (why they gave it 250hp, I'll never understand), so it does not corner well.
C. and sure...it also has AWD with a full-time 50/50 front-to-rear torque split which does tend to nibble away at the outside tread surfaces on all 4 tires.
The EX is clearly more "sport oriented" than my Outback, so I'm just curious to find out whether anyone's gotten to the "root cause" of this--or whether anyone's tried messing with their alignment settings to flatten out the camber at all 4 wheels to help slow outer edge tire wear (?)
My "new" 2008 is apparently being delivered with 6/32" tread remaining, and all the replacement tires I've been considering are directional. So other than still being able rotate front to rear, and side-to-side (by un-mounting then swapping tires so outside edges now face "in"), it sounds like I may not be doing myself any favors by going with a slightly more performance-oriented, directional tread tire. (sorry....I just can bring myself to put a set of Yokohama light-truck off-road tires on a vehicle with this kind of performance
Any feedback would be welcome.
TIA,
Tim
