cigarrete lighter under dash dosent work

I bought a car charger for my zune and when I plug it in to the lighter in the compartment under the dash and it didn't work the one in the center console works perfectly though maybe andding a GE(general electric) badge might fix it any advice

Thanks I'm at work but as soon as I get out ill check. wouldn't u think that this would cause more things not to work or are the lighters on there on circuit

Lets ask the obvious question: was the car on at the time? Armrest outlet will work if the car is off, console will only work when car power is on.

not really cuz each fuse is responsible for 1 device or section of the car only

Yes the car is on and thanks for the info on fuses I thought they would be a much bigger section of the car

my cheap ipod/iphone adapter gets loose in the slot all the time, see if its pushed in all the way.
