Hi guys.....i pushed in my cigarette lighter today but it didn't pop back out again.the car didn't burn down so i'm assuming it didn't heat up at all.the lighter worked fine yesterday.is this due to a blown fuse or is it because of the spring mechanism?hopefully its a fuse and if so can someone tell me which fuse it is?thanks in advance.

Fuse wouldn't cause lighter to not eject. Try cleaning it off.

The little prongs inside the socket are bimetallic and will relax enough to let the lighter pop out when it's heated up. It sounds like you may have gotten the lighter cocked and jammed a prong into the lighter. At any rate, it's not going to get any more broken. Pull its fuse and give it a mighty yank with a pair of pliers. If it breaks, replacement sockets and lighters are everywhere, including Wal*Mart. It may just come out, and might be repairable.

Still nothing drastic if it's the whole thing- the barrel of the assembly unscrews and it slides out. If your replacement is Nissan, you'd not even have to do any wiring. Yank the negative terminal before d!ck with car wiring.
