I would like to know is there an easy way to make the power outlet in my 2005 g35x be always on (working when the car is off or not in ACC position)?

I rewired my outlet in my jeep to be "always on" by hooking up my outlet to the 12 volt memory wire of my headset with a seperate ground point. this worked like a charm... it is that easy in the G35?

i would like to be able to charge my phone while im at work. (cant bring my phone into my job) sometimes i go to work from my GFs house and my phone battery dosent get a full charge on the way to work. (like a 20 min drive).

You would have to wire it to an "always hot" 12v source. You can access the FSM's here: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/G35/

Look in there, and find the "EL" section. Right click, "save target as" when download is complete, find your hotwire, and rewire.

If you still have the Jeep check the manual to see if you can do this the correct way, which is at the fuse box. Many Chrysler products allow you to simply move the fuse to a different position which places the outlet in the always on position or the powered by ignition position. I think other Chryslers may allow this to be set during your key setup. Maybe your Jeep is similar. Would be great if the Infiniti does something similar

since looking at the infinity tech documents i was pointed to, i learned that the cigaret lighter and 12 volt power in glove box are connected to the same relay ACC relay, they have seperate fuses though.

The "hot" wire is on one side of the relay then all the accessories are on one side... its an interesting setup... it looks like they tried real hard to make sure the accessories are not "on" unless the key is in the "acc" or "on/start" position... the diagram shows the cig lighter and 12volt power sharing a common wire with all accessories on the car. But they dont share a fuse... so i know each one is isolated, as my cig lighter fuse was blown when i got the car, but my 12volt still worked.

since the accessories share a common wire i dont think it would be easy as "jumping" the hot wire around the ACC relay to the 12volt and cig lighter with out maybe engergizing the other accessories in the process. But that was a top level diagram.. so it may be different once i pull the wires out.

the diagram can be found here (wire diagram\accessory power ACC)http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/G3...g.pdf

Has any one done this yet?

There is an easier way without modifying your vehicles wiring.

Pick up a 12v sealed alarm battery and use that

I have a 7.5ah battery but a 12ah battery would be more than sufficient.

I had a broken lighter socket in a company vehicle and I used one of those batteries to power my Sirius receiver and charge my cell phone.

You can recharge the battery with a 110v to 12v dc 1 amp charger

yeah thats a good idea, but its more of a "work around"... i would rather do something permanent that dosent add any extra bulky equipment.

I wanted to ask around the fourm before i pulled the wires... i didnt want to "re invent the wheel" if someone had already done this... looks like im just going to have to pull the wires and see exactly what im working with...

No infinity techs have chimed in? Can the dealer do the rewiring?
